Jesus f***ing Christ, what are they on.
Joel. I knock you often for your doping attitude, but it's largely because you haven't experienced the doping bonanza first hand and therefore can't see the clear difference now.

But you're a decent fan and definitely not Clinic material. The big dogs in that forum don't even post about actual racing.

I think there is a great cycling magazine feature ready to be written about those people.

Its sort of fun to watch what goes on on there though isn't it?

It would probably be better off behind a yellow tape.

Jaysus I didn't realise, not only have you entered the lion's den you've only gone and put your head in the f*ing lion's mouth! Good luck with trying reasoned debate over there.

I know you've been there. For a while I thought of you like Damien Lewis in Homeland. Has he been radicialised? Can we trust VB? And to be fair your occasional nonsense posts have taken us into a disappointing second series.

Joel. The non-clinic bit of CyclingNews is OK. Join in. But it's a bit fanboyish.

    off topic, from the clinic

reading on the clinic just now, if Porte holds his form to May it is definitive doping but if he then goes on and does nothing for the rest of the year, it is also definitive sign of doping.

Is it called The Clinic because you have to be clinically insane?

Yes their reasoning is that if you win you must be doping but if you don't win it's because you are scared of getting tested.

I'd never read the clinic until this evening.

The Evans thread near bent my mind. He's doping because, well he must have been. And they figured out his entire programme and all without a shred of evidence! Then a guy disagrees and he's a troll. It was like bizarro world.

You have to wonder why these people waste so much time on a sport they obviously despise.

Why do you think some commonly refer to it as.........

Only thing to do is ignore the place. Unfollow them on Twatter. It's the same 10 depressing people who think they know everything. You are either with them or against them. It's either doping doping doping or being a ignorant idiot. Even their former hero RaceRadio is now a blind, deaf and dum because he, after the 'closure' of the Lance-case, is now spitting out positive words about the sport which he actually likes.

That Benotti-guy is a special one. Absolutely deluded.

I image Di Luca giving evidence to the authorities is much like Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects.

    He's still fully involved.

He knows mechanical doping has happened.

And he doesn't like the nocturnal testing.

A step in the right direction.

Some interesting chat from Sven Nys on an hour long cycling chat prog.

There's the usual chat about when he rode P-R with Rabo in 2001 with Geer, but that's all boring.

What was interesting, was his chat about weight and anorexia in the peloton.

    His theory is as follows:

You have a period where most riders are taking EPO, testosterone, HgH. With those additional 'benefits' it's much easier to run exceptionally lean and still put out very punchy power without straining your body to the point of breaking.

Without those drugs, riders are still trying to get as thin, but without the doping crutch, it puts too much strain on the body. They need a shade more fat and generally a more balanced diet to get the best power/weight combo without doping... He sees quite a few riders getting very thin and struggling as a result.

Have no interest in any conspiracy theorising on it (i'm looking at you Joelsim) but thought it was interesting.
  • He also said he wanted a total ban on TUEs as cortisone is dangerous in the long term and also, more controversially, if you have asthma you've no business being an athlete anyway

Has a point. His view is if you need any drug to perform then you're 'naturally' not a good athlete.

I wonder if would he have the same view about a tennis player, for example, wearing contact lenses?
