My biggest was 140 miles when I was 16. For some reason not done that distance again ?
If you like long distance - go on iPlayer and look up The Adventure Show. 1300km to ride in 100 hours. In Scotland. Excellent program.
That's marcusjb or something from on here:

Furthest I've done in a day is 310 miles, London to Land's End. 6000 metres of climbing.0
-
138 miles on my fixed for the Dunwich Dynamo with added miles traveling to the start. To be honest, I get bored on most rides that go beyond a couple of hours.0

220 miles from Glos up to York for the TDF. We averaged over 19mph up until Manchester when the traffic and weather turned nasty. Still ended up 18.5mph average.argon 18 e116 2013 Vision Metron 80

Mine's only a tame 171km (106miles ish?) up to Cruden Bay http://www.strava.com/activities/198013730
But actually the 146km from Ballater, over Garnshiel and the Lecht to Dufftown and back over the Cabrach was much, much harder http://www.strava.com/activities/1591932050 -
In one day is only 116 miles for me, but my total for this year is quite impressive (well I think it is anyway!) but i might save that statistic until the end of the year!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

I'm surprised that ugo.santalucia has not posted on here yet....
Not sure if it is his longest, but pretty impressive..

280 miles - L2P24 last year
Planning on doing it again this year, and also want to do Newcastle to London.
Good thing about L2P is that it's quite flat - and easily do-able provided the weather isn't foul. Apparently this year was a constant headwind and pissing down the entire way, so dodged a bullet there methinks...
Chapeau to anyone who does serious mileage - like upwards of 350 in a day. The thought of doing much more than I did on L2P terrifies me.Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

I thought I'd done well at 164 miles. I'll go and sit in the corner until I come up with something more worthy :oops:0

Not sure why I thought that... :oops:0 -
200 miles in one day. It was flat too. Very impressed with some of these miles I'm seeing.
I'd really had enough of the bike after that ride too.0 -

1000km 21,250m of ascent.
(very) impressive though it is - it breaks the "in a day" part of the thread!
It was an amazing ride though and nothing but respect for the guy. I did a 600km with 15000m of ascent in the Pyrenees and it half killed me (it would have been much easier with a support crew though..... )0 -

Depends what you consider impressive! I've never looked at distances as milestones to be ticked off.
My longest ride as I posted earlier was 201km (125miles) and I'm no more or less proud of that having seen the sorts of distances others have managed. Likewise I don't think you should feel differently about your 164 mile ride just because you've seen that some others have done much more. If you thought you'd done well then you still should. Well done sir!0 -
A lowly (compared to these figures) 100 miler last year, and although I am proud to have done it, I don't think I would be that bothered if I didn't ride that far again.
It was the pretty flat "Manchester 100" and with water/feed stops it still took me a fraction under 6 hours.
I'm unlikely to get any quicker than this at my age, and personally, 6 hours in the saddle is enough for me.
I have total respect for you guys who do more, both for your enthusiasm as well as athleticism, but for me, any longer and it would be like going to work! :roll:0 -
270 miles - L2P earlier this year but that was over 28 hours so probably doesnt count.
I've done 220-250 a few times now but not sure what my "official" 2nd longest ride is after the L2P one.0 -

325 miles on the first day of PBP - 23h50 (iirc) to the sleep stop in Carhaix.
400km (250 miles) normally took me about 17.5 to 19 hours, but on the 6am starts I could never get past the 2am dead time on a 600k. I tried a couple of times, but just ended up going slower and slower and having to find a bus shelter somewhere.
I've retired from such things now.0 -

Well, actually there were two famous cycling Tommy Godwins but only one cycled 200ish miles a day for a year. Awesome!
Probably something for another thread, but this is what a friend has planned for next year.

Someone (not Steve cos he'll be pedalling his bike) will put up his daily tally on Twitter each day I believe - @yearrecord
His schedule has him starting slowly at around 170-180 miles a day in January to a peak of 285-295 miles a day in July before tapering down to 200ish a day in December.
Steve's been talking about this for a few years now and he's financing a massive chunk of it from his life savings. If anyone has spare cash and wants to help out - http://oneyeartimetrial.org.uk/donate
Also, Steve is looking for people to host him as he pounds up and down the roads of the UK. If you've a spare bed and you're willing to feed/water a really tired rider and push him out the door early the next day, then drop him a line.0 -
