There have been a lot of people killed in the name of religion. It seems that a lot of religious people don't see their religion as peaceful. I'm talking about ALL religions here, they are as bad as each other.
I don't think anyone has committed an act of terror in the name of atheism.

I hope religion brings you happiness but I have family, rock climbing and downhill mountain biking to keep my life good.

I won't say much. All I can say is, we can't live or choose what to believe in or follow. Nowadays we have a choice given to us by so called democratic governments who believe sex before marriage and gay marriage is normal and we live in a state where the intervention of god is not permissable because men of modern times and their egos have got the best of them. But, because you weren't born hundreds of years ago when society thrived on religious based morals and laws, you have no idea what life was like for those people. We are no different, we are those people, only thing that's changed is, they were more intelligent and their brains were like huge containers, and we are living in materialistic times and confined to areas plagued with promiscuity and alcahol and and have no intelligence and refuse to believe because we have been given a choice by government puppets, we believe it is ok to not believe. Until .. UNTIL, we meet god :)

I say no more on this topic. Most of you are fuelled with hate, which is good for the fire. You can't be good by choice, in the beginning we followed religious laws. There is no divine book for atheism saying this is how it was in the beginning, but there was one for believers.

That is the biggest load of bollox I've ever read. It relates to nothing said previously. Plus if we're good without the threat from religion surely that is inherently better than just being better because you're scared of something? Ie yiur religion.

Plus what's wrong with sex before marriage or gay marriage?? I have quite a few gay friends and from what I've seen from you here is much rather know them than you!

Plus, what have the government got to do with what religion we believe? I think they're a bunch of cnuts too so I wouldn't listen to a word they say!

How do you see "Muslims will conquer Rome" as a peaceful statement? What do you think it means?

Conquer means - overcome and take control of (a place or people) by use of military force.

Maybe you should be more clear in your posts. Perhaps when you quote sections of your magic book you could explain your understanding of them. When you put a statement suggesting military force being used by followers of your book to displace the Pope from the Vatican explain how in actual fact it means they are going to overcome them with kindness and flowers.

    No stupid smiley face required.

Military force in modern terms yes, take over in older terms meaning either by battle or by conversion, not with the sharp sword, but with the sword of the intellect.

The Muslims will invade Rome in the near future. Why would they try such a seemingly useless endeavor? Because when Muhammad re-established the religion of Adam, there were two cities that he aspired for the Muslims to conquer, Rome and Constantinople.

He [Muhammad] answered: “The city of Hirqil [Emperor Heraclius, that is, Constantinople] will be conquered first” … Romiyya is the city called today Rome, the capital of Italy. The city of Hirquil was conquered by the young 23-year old Ottoman [sultan] Muhammad bin Morad, known in history as Mohammad the Conquerer, in 1453 [CE]. The other city, Romiyya, remains, and we hope and believe [that it too will be conquered]. This means that Islam will return to Europe as a conquerer and victor, after being expelled from its twice-once from the South, from Adalusia, and a second time from the East, when it knocked several times on the door of Athens. Stalin and Lenin didn't kill in the name of atheism, they did it in the name of communism. They may of been atheist but that was not why they killed.

Hitler didn't kill deformed babies because of Darwin, he did it because of racism.

Plus modern laws are developed from your old religious laws, alcohol abuse was probably more rife than it is today and as for promiscuity, have a think about what the oldest profession in history is. (Just to make things quicker it's prostitution, widely believed to be the profession of Mary Magdelane, jesus's lover, whom he wasn't married to)

And finally as for people in the past being more intelligent, I seriously doubt it, most advances have come in the last 150 years or so, without which you wouldn't be able to have your precious iPhone or camera.

Most importantly, stop being a d!ck by trying to force your views on people, I have no issue with your religious beliefs but this is a bike forum, not your daily diary or a place to try and convert us to religion. If you want to talk about religion, join a forum dedicated about it, however if you want to talk about your bike or any other bike feel free to stay.

When these discussions kick off we always get the "I can respect your right to your belief..." etc from sane people (i.e. atheists). Why? Why would you offer anything more than ridicule and disrespect to anyone who would happily plunge the human race back into the middle ages, tell you that you're going to burn in hell for eternity (have you ever really thought about what an ugly thing that is to say to someone?), and think that women are little more than property, and all because they can't get through the day without an imaginary friend?

Anyone can believe whatever they want but they can f off if they expect me to believe it just because they say its true and f off if they try to force it on anyone who doesnt want it. So yeah I agree. But the I can respect your right bit is just like saying "no offence" before you call someone a d1ck right?!

Of course they can. Doesn't mean we should offer respect, though. When an adult tells you they have an imaginary friend the only appropriate response is ridicule. Why do we keep giving the religious a free pass?

    Good plan, I like it!

Perhaps if we did there'd be a lot less 'stupid'.

We all have a choice. If you feel your freedom of choice is being suppressed by this country's democratic government then I suggest you leave and find a regime more appropriate to your beliefs. I'm far from being a xenophobe but I absolutely detest those that moan about the country they live as it doesn't match their religious beliefs and then try and force their views upon others rather than leave the happy majority to their own lives by socially integrating into the community. I have many Muslim friends that would consider you an embarrassment quite frankly.

If you are the whinging adolescent we all suspect you are then my suggestion to you is put up and shut up until shut time you are of the age where you can legally leave. If you are already classed legally as an adult then leave already.

I never forced religion on anyone. I'm only responsible for what I say, not for what you understand.

Does anyone know what my bike is currently worth? is it a good time to sell or not?

Most advances in last 150 years are what you see as a result of a finished product, when somethings complete, we never really get to see where the info to make such a thing came from, ask yourself this, where did the ingredients come from, ever read Plato and Aristotle over 1600 years ago and the Andalusian Moors and Arabs in the golden age of invention 900 years ago? hmm

I wasn't converting anyone, some people on here feel as if that's how it is, no where have I said, convert or die, have I?

I'd love to talk about bikes, that's why I came on here, I wanted to know how to get a basic diet going so I can get energy or motivation to learn to ride or ride more and further or constant, not be told to eat 6 meals or 4000 calories a day which is what most of you have been telling me which is somewhat impossible. I plan on riding some time soon in next few weeks, I really have no energy at all and don't ask about motivation. When I come home from work, because I've been sitting down all day in an office I don't feel like riding. It's not in my mindset. Tbh, I just can't encourage myself, don't know what it is. I can do everything else, just find it hard to go out and ride. Besides, riding at night is not the most pleasant time of day.

I'm thinking of incorporating meat in to my diet at least 2 times a month, or every 2 weeks have a nice small leg of lamb and some potatoes to go with it and some veg. Currently I do it once a month. What do you think?

You're not saying convert or die but you are saying believe of burn in hell.

You are also telling us we are sinners for having sex out of wedlock, drinking, condoning gay marriage and basically anything you dont believe in. Because of said sins we are all going to burn for eternity.

You say you wanted advice on riding bikes but wont listen to the advice which says you have to go and ride bikes to get better at riding them and you have to feed the machine to get it to work (machine being your body). But you dont like that advice.

you have flip flopped about on riding and never been out for more than 30 minutes, you worry about bad men stealing your bike and ask the same questions over and over about buying lights and jackets. Talk and talk about riding to Leeds like you are making the pilgrimage to Mecca when in reality its a journey most 8 year old girls do with their friends on a Sunday afternoon. And then never get round to doing it.

Basically as far as I can tell you have the decision making skills of a slightly retarded chimp, the understanding of science and religion founded purely in the ramblings of some ridiculous characters with questionable backgrounds on the internet.

You make posts of half formed arguments and half understood religious claptrap with no attempt to interpret your ramblings into anything coherent and then get wound up about people misunderstanding what you have said.

You say you want to talk about bikes but you dont because you have no interest in them and no passion for riding. You seem to have one of the dreariest lives I have ever heard described in print. Good luck to you but I am out.

Eat 3 balanced meals a day..... with all of the food groups if you are not a vegetarian... ask your brother to help you since you tell us he is like a greek god stature wise.....

go out and ride your bike..... for more than 30 mins.... more than round the park.... try and find people better than you at riding... it will make you push yourself to be better.... (I do this..... it really works)....

it is as easy as that......

or give up...... don't much care anymore..... cos you don't listen to sense...

The implication being I don't understand. I find this stance incredibly frustrating from many religious folk but Muslims are particularly adept at it. To me Cody, your religion is utter nonsense yet you speak as if it is fact. It is not fact, it is just your belief. Allah, Mohammed, Jesus or whoever they are all the same. Figments of imagination, imo of course.

Religion has been pandered to for far too long.
