Good win. Very happy, one of "my men" to coin the phrase.

Does he has a Lombardy win in him? He must be thinking about that.

His descent to the finish line was great, Martin must have given him tips. Never seen a rider sit on the top tube and still pedal from that position.

I'm glad Valverde didn't win. I really don't like him, but he did chase on a bit. Gerrans will feel that is one he missed.

    Good year for Swift.

"I'm very proud. Michal is a loyal rider and a super class act. On Wednesday he trained 240 kilometers with the Belgians and did another hour after. He was convinced that he could win."

Quite generous of Belgium. Wonder what Gilbert and Boonen thought of that?

Happens constantly. And Kiwa rides for OPQS...
  • Did boonen really think.he could win it? Hasn't shown much in a while really.
  • Yeah not with that ridiculous beard.

  • Love that kit. Best ever.

Wish I could convince my club to adopt a similar version.

I know you're not a fan Frenchie, the guy certainly doesn't ride an exciting race but "The sniper" is pretty effective most of the time. Him and Valverde are two peas in a pod for me, the pantomime villains of the peloton. I don't particularly like them as riders but as people they seem alright.

Would Sagan swap 2 Green Jerseys for Rainbow?

Definitely. He can pick up a Green Jersey any time he likes.

Difficult to say but he's clearly back in form. He did well in Liege Bastogne Liege but the climbs in LBL suit him better whereas the climbs in Lombardy favour the climbers more.

Often Lombardy comes down to who has the most left in the tank after a long season.

Because I don't like his beard? It is weird that you would think I was weird for thinking that

You know this guy lives and trains in a cold climate - look at where his tan line is!

See if you can find a photo of him earlier in the race. My guess is he was wearing knee warmers and took them off, that'll be a dirt line. It has happened to me many times.

You seem very insecure about beards. Why is that?
  • Good call Hammerite.

I don't like beards so I am insecure about them? You will have to expand on that if you want me to understand. I think they look awful in 90% of cases but if you have one and are happy with it then that's fine. I don't hold it against people, just don't think it looks nice. Personal opinion, not a big deal.

    Is this you?

You could deny it though and opt for this one instead.

I admire their enthusiasm but it was a little odd.

    .

    WANT THAT TROU.
  • Did Froome and Millar even ride? What was Rob Hales on about when he said they packed as they had done their "work" for the team earlier. I saw the Poles then the Aussies on the front but not Froome. He could not have lost enough fitness to get dropped on that course (Valverde? )and apparently it was not hard enough for him? So HTF could he not keep up to help Swifty? Kennaaugh rode well to force a chase but was cooked and Luke rode well, Forget the rest they may have well put Cav in a he would not have got dropped n that Race.

Just because someone isn't visible on TV and you didn't see them, it doesn't mean they weren't working. GB did Ok. They did what they set out to do - got a dangerous man in the late break and ensured Swift was in the group with other sprinters. They just haven't got a top notch puncheur type.
GB have only got two riders who have ever won a decent one day race and they were both injured. Froome is unlikely to be anything more than an early race domestique in one day races. He doesn't have the acceleration to be of use late on. There's a reason he's only done three one day races in four years for Sky.

I saw Froome at the front at the top of the climb. It was well into the second half of the race.
There has been a lot of general moaning about Froome's DNF, especially in the usual Sky sink hole,
    but strangely none about:
    Cadel Evans
    Luis Leon Sanchez
    Jelle Vannedert
    Tony Martin
    Tim Wellens
    Rein Taaramae
    Wilco Kelderman
    Tom Slagter
    Teejay Vangarderen
    Andrew Talansky
    Rohan Dennis.............................

"Kwiatkowski ’s victory marked Specialized ’s third world title
on the road and although the Pole is set to race just once
more this season – at the Tour of Lombardia – his bike
supplier are busily putting the finishing touches to the new
    custom-paint job for his Tarmac."

That's what it's all about, the effort, the lactic, the risk of getting a Phil Mickelsoning...

Getting your ride pimped to perfection.

Isn't he their 4th? Cipollini, Bettini & Cavendish all won on Spesh.
  • “To be honest with you, I felt like I wanted to cry when I crossed the finish line,” Gerrans admitted in the press room afterwards, a silver medal around his neck. “To be so close to the world title and to see it slip away in the final few kilometers ... I knew I had good legs. If things had unfolded a little bit differently in the final I could have been racing for the victory.”

LOL. Why didn't you try and help with the chase then you little toad?

Gilbert asked him politely to come through several times - difficult i suppose when GvA was there too - although one good turn each by them and Gallopin and the podium would have been different
  • Well everyone was pulling apart from him. Just like in every race. The guy is a complete disgrace to real racers.
