Peloton staying together. Some of the girls from the main nations getting dropped on that first long shallow climb. Not sure that'll happen with the men. It's exposed and very wide though, could be interesting with cross-winds
  • Usual race for the WJ - no break allowed, one of the girls attacks and everyone panics to get on the wheel but doesn't keep the pressure on. Bunch finish ahoy.

Meh. No substantial attacks until the last hill. Reduced bunch sprint. Dideriksen wins, beating Bertizzolo, the same two who briefly escaped on the last climb. Best riders won, I guess
  • Easy sprint for Dideriksen of Denmark, Bertizzolo of Italy 2nd and Skalniak of Poland 3rd.
  • How did Beth get on?

  • U23 Mens race now on - often the best race of the week. Attack from Km0 with 3 riders away (Tukey, Romania and Austria)

    Poor showing. Did Garner crash?

Garner had been ill in the run up to the race, and was still suffering from that.

predict a win for Caleb Ewan
Ozzies on the front of the peleton.

I'm pretty sure he's dropped. Or at least was at some point.
  • Louis M of MTN solo out front atm.

  • 37 secs on G1 and 49 on peloton.

No idea...there is no graphic. They have been riding for over 3.5hours. (182km race so maybe 30-1hr left).

Louis is hanging on and G1 is basically caught but he still has 40 secs on them all. Looking really fluid.

  • Damn he just lost 25secs in the last 10mins

    Oh well.

  • Caught by G1 who is only 150m ahead of peloton.

This course is not very selective...thought it was when I first saw the profile and read about it. But after the Spanish RR (which used this course) I was less convinced then seeing it now it is even worse. Most of it seems to be on these wide exposed roads. The hills are barely noticeable. Certainly struggle to see how some long range attacks would be sustained.

Criminal not show the distance bar.

Perhaps the ticker stalled and they took it down. It definitely feels like it. Terrible race. Doesn't bode well for sunday.
  • There was a break of 10 or so, but now all together. It's not looking very selective at all, could be a proper bunch sprint on Sunday if there are enough teams working for it.
  • Bunch of 79 a few seconds behind lone escapee Ladanois of France with Aussies doing the chasing
  • Pontferrada looks like Windsor
  • A late solo move by a Norweigian (next Eddy Merckx lol) holds out by 50m from 40 odd riders.

My early stand out pick, Caleb Ewan finishes 2nd.

Very good move, attacked on the final climb.

    Norway took bronze as we..

  • A painfully boring race.
Almost 180kms of nothing, followed by a quick attack and downhill assault.
The bunch chasing had no organisation.
