He's only gone and bloody done it...

Fair play, that's brilliant. Well done Brad!
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.
  • Ufff 26secs is huge margin. Don't like Wiggins at all but somewhat happy he got this. He has tried so often to get it and now he has another thing ticked off his list - certainly a big target for him. He had to re-adjust his whole body and stop road racing completely in order to achieve it but congratulations.

1 Bradley Wiggins (Great Britain) 0:56:25.52
    2 Tony Martin (Germany) 0:56:51.75
    3 Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands) 0:57:06.16
    4 Vasil Kiryienka (Belarus) 0:57:13.44
    5 Rohan Dennis (Australia) 0:57:23.26
    6 Adriano Malori (Italy) 0:57:37.14
    7 Nelson Oliveira (Portugal) 0:57:47.15
    8 Anton Vorobyev (Russia) 0:57:55.18
9 Jan Barta (Czech Republic) 0:58:08.93
    10 Jonathan Castroviejo (Spain) 0:58:09.72

Amazing. That's a righteous gubbing of Martin.

Astounding that it may be his last significant road TT.

    Wow. Didn't see that coming.

Will we ever see him wear the jersey on the road though?

Road goals complete - just Olympics left. Another couple of track golds?

Would be surprised to see him have a go at Paris Roubaix next year

Proof positive that when Wiggo sets his mind to do something, he does it. Yes he has off seasons and off moments when he is not interested, but when he is bothered - blimey. Pure legend.

When it comes to range of performance possibly one of the best of all time? Certainly Britain's GOAT!

The look of Brad's pupils on the visual as he stuck his thumb up in the waiting room. The look of someone who has just gone deeper than ever before. Well done chap.

Olympic champion, national champion and no World champion what a list.

FF I thought you had shown humility, but then the second part ruined it. Not like he was beating Martin 2 years ago?

Its ironic given the interrupted season he's had and all the off the road issues that Wiggins has secured probably the biggest win of the season by Sky (and arguably the second biggest with the Tour of Cali GC). Very well done. Let's see what the road race team can do on Sunday - surely an improvement on last year!

    And Wiggins saves SKY's season!

He did look impressively b*ggered as he lay on the floor under the cold towels.

    Balls.

(Can't help not being a fan).
  • A great ride from Wiggins. Delighted that he was able to add this title to his palmares. It would have been wrong if he had reached retirement and not had the World TT title on his mantelpiece.

All of Sky's biggest wins this season were Wiggo's, Top ride.

Back to earlier point not all Italian jerseys have been majority blue the one I have is from 2001 and is more balanced between blue, white and green on front and back (side panels are solid blue mind) as shown by Bettini not winning in this photo.

I think you could say he is the best allround rider of his generation when you look at the range of results. All he needs is a Classic (PR) and what else would he have to win?
He obviously isn't going to go for a CX race based on that Cofidis/FDJ video from a few years back!

  • Not a fan of Wiggins but you have to congratulate his effort and win.

Like FF, I think his lack of racing throughout the year (and that includes days when he was idling by on or off the back of the peleton) helped him stay fresh at this point in the season. Fair enough though, as he said this was his main goal of the season and he delivered.

Gonna be interesting if he is allowed to focus 100% on P-R.

Which rider who turned pro since 2000 can match the breadth of his palmares?

How many Track WC's and Olympic Gold's does Cadel have?

Good shout. But if you said who's better Evans or Wiggo, most would say Wiggo wouldn't they?

Also they've both done it with hardly a credible hint of doping, which makes their achievements all the more impressive in this era.
