Davidof, was it easy to get close to the riders? Always thought it wasnt really possible at the Tour vs the Dauphine for instance.

Tour is not easy unless you can get a pass (or use a small zoom and be well placed like I was). In some ways the Tour was easier to take photos than the DL this year as it was less of a scrum.

The new mayor of Grenoble doesn't want The Tour back so may be some time before I get to see the race up close.

A big mountain stage truly can be duller than a plain flat stage.

Duller still are your posts saying it is dull which seem to be thr majority of stages. Why dont you put some classic races on or more exciting still the Tour of Denmark.

First week was phenomenal. Second week has been quite dreadful.

A classic? That was a good idea! I think I'll put on the 2009 Paris-Nice stage where Alberto cracks in the most amateurish way. He should have eaten more bananas..

Interesting. But when you said in your captions certain riders were interacting with fans how does that work? Those who has passes?

A couple of well timed substitutions would have livened this stage up a lot.

So so happy to see proof that Pinot has conquered his descending demons.

See, you just have to have a go at them and they'll start racing.

Bardet and Peraud lead Nibali, Fugly and Valverde. Gap. Pinot trying to bridge solo. Rest are scrambling.

They need to put time into TJ at some point given his TT abilities.

Valverde went walkabout outside of the pens. Costa came and chatted to the fans at the fence who called him over as did Horner. Other riders chatted with people invited into the pens.

I could probably have organised an invite via my father in law but wasn't that bothered.

Mollema caught them and has gone straight to front. Pinot bridged. Stetina bridged then sat up for TJ.
