Really enjoyed that final climb. Went on forever and there were so many events. Great stuff.

Nibali cruised as expected but some spirited attempts to take up the offensive and limit losses.

Surely Piti could have limited his losses if he hadn't saved himself for his 4th place sprint?
He has clearly given up on catching Nibali. Want's to secure 2nd. That's experience.

Thomas leading Porte home. Does make you wonder if they'd been better off backing G?

Unless its all about the heat, I suspect G has just shown why he will never be a GT contender. Would love to be proved wrong but I can't see it.

Most complete Tour de France perfomance in years. Nibali is basically a modern day Hinault.

Not happy with the racing today. Valverde is a wheel sucking scum bag. No surprise, but I really don't like it.

I'm not convinced about Nibali's performance. I don't know if he just looks so dominant because the other 2 proper GC contenders are both out and that's just how big the gap is between them and the rest of the Peloton, or whether he's up to no good.

No need for that. People on here are claiming the opposite, that Nibali would have beaten Bertie and Chris, also without evidence. Why not attack those?

Well based on the fact he has over 3 minutes on his nearest rival, he also put time into Contador and Froome in stage 2, not to mention the cobbles. I think that is evidence enough to be able to form a good opinion.

So I want to know what he is basing it on. The Contador which lost the Dauphine to Talansky?

Also Lemond saying Fugslang hit a water bottle when he crashed.

Also, I am disappointed in Kwiatowski.

I still think he's wrecked from the first half of the season where he seemed to be racing constantly. Plus he's not really a GC climber (yet - maybe in time).

Hard not to conclude that Sky know very little about preparing a team for the Tour. Off the back of an invisible GC effort in the Giro, it's borderline negligence, a long way from the accolades heaped on SDB.

Check out where he finished last year against some tougher opposition! He could be tired - defo not performing as he was but they did try and rest him.

Anybody still think Contador or Froome would have matched this Nibali?!

Yes, they would have both beaten him.

To date the climbs look like they'd have suited him. Long high tempo drags, no sudden burst. Might also have had a buffer like Nibs after cobbles, plus a TT to back it up. Seems a worse and worse decision to leave him at home, unless the numbers were way off. And why the hell was G windbreaking for Porte? Who's DS in the car?

2 seconds on a hilly stage and a ride on wet cobbles are not much indication of form in the mountains, right? Suggestion of 'grinta', yes

At least the fight for the Podium is still exciting and we have a Pantomime bad guy in Valverde. Hopefully Bardet or Pinot can nick 2nd of the wheelsucker!
