How much weight do you want to lose by the end of summer?

Following on from the 'If you're overweight, by how much?' thread in Road General I thought it might be more motivating to have a goal and chip away at it publicly.
Pick goal on poll, then state your current weight and goal and briefly update once a week (or just update amount lost (if any!) if too shy to state weight).
Maybe quote your previous post each time so that there is a running log of progress.

No voting option for people who don't want/need to lose any weight?
I feel discriminated against :P"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
I want to lose 2 stone (12.7kg) by the beginning of September. (12 weeks away) It is a big ask, but I hope it is possible.

I'm currently ~16 stone (102kg)
By the end of the summer (i.e. end of August) I want to be back down to 15 stone (same as before my injury), but would like to be 14.5stone which was my original goal, considering I've got a 3 week adventure to Costa Rica booked for most of August it may be difficult to acheive, but I'll have fun trying! Just enjoying being able to ride my bike again after 5 months rest for recovery!0 -

August last year I was almost 18 stone. Today I am 12st 4. I'd like to get to 11 by winter.0

I voted <4 stone as this was the best option for "not wanting to lose any weight" - technical zero is less than four stone0

3.5Kg lost since 29/12/13, mainly due to stopping drinking and upping the monthly mileage on the bike to just under 400miles.
Current weight 72.5Kg, height 5'7".0 -

Thanks! Initially (August 2013) I was borderline (maybe properly?) obese, miserable and angry (putting strain on relationship) and longed for the days where I was fit and healthy and used to mountain bike regularly (about 8 years previous) so I purchased a mountain bike. I was super out of shape (8 years of wine, naughty food and long long days at a desk), went for a quick 7 mile ride and thought I was going to die. Something had to change, so after lots of research and reading I made some severe diet adjustments. I cut out all but 30g of carbs a day. Together with this I made an effort to cycle every day. I'd ride to work and then do that 7 mile loop back home again. It was on a 9speed 29er and initially the (little to me now) hill was in the lowest gear and was agony. In all the wind and rain of winter, my stupid 9 gears and my cheap lights but I knew it was the only way.
In an effort to speed up my fitness after a month or two I started doing kettlebell excersises, 3 times a week. So my little route every day and then 3 times a quick 30 minute kettlebell routine. Although quite sore I was feeling pretty good, in the beginning of all these sort of health kicks you notice rapid gains but I happy with my progress, my fitness was increasing, I was losing weight and the diet had become pretty easy. I was keeping my calorie intake high with fats from avocado and meats and fish and just lots of green veg. Nuts etc too. By Christmas I'd just dipped under the 14 stone mark, was happy! I'd done a couple of 35 mile rides on my bike, extended my after work loop to about 12 miles and had so much energy.
Middle of January I got a (crappy) road bike, started riding it outside at the start of February and I was hooked. I decided to increase my daily mileage again and quickly realised that low carb just wouldn't cut it any more, so started to sensibly bring in carbs at lunch time, something low in the evening etc. Upped my miles at the weekend. First 40, then 50 and then a 60!
Anyway, fast forward a few months, for the last 10 weeks I've averaged about 200 miles a week. Just recently bought a new bike that's 3 weeks old and done 700 odd miles. Completed a 90 mile solo ride then a couple of weeks later 105 mile solo ride (in 6.30 which I was pleased with, about 6,000ft elevation), regularly do 60/70 on the weekend. Just done my first club TT (8 miles in 21.50, nothing spectacular but I gave it a bash!) and my life is completely different! Couldn't be happier. Well, some carbon clinchers maybe but... It's one of those cliche cycling probably saved my life sort of deals. Haha.0 -

Diatory, well done chap that's truly some progress. Doing LCHF and seeing good results myself, not in your league but I am pleased with them. Don't abandon the low carb for good, it is really handy to have a body that burns a higher % of fat as fuel, makes your limited stores of glycogen last longer0

Thanks! Big losses because I had lots to lose too!
I know trying to balance low carbs with lots of output is difficult, trying to do them in moderation. I do notice a significant increase in long term energy with carbs over proteins and fats though. Trying to work into a sensible rounded diet that gives me the energy but doesn't take the wee wee. It's all a re-education process I suppose.
Good luck with yours! Once you're over the initial period and settled into knowing what you can eat etc it does become a lot easier doesn't it.0 -
Personally I am trying to train low carb and add carbs for "events" or for when I want a bit more oomph! Give it another 5kg or so and then I guess I will start adding in more "safe starches" but I've got some way to go. I know I can't go back to eating the way I had been, mixing in fasting periods is definitely helping with self control.
This guy seems to burn an amazing % of fat (although he seems to exaggerate the results somewhat) http://www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/2014/05/how-much-fat-can-you-burn-2/0 -
Ah that's pretty much how I worked, setting a target goal where I would start trickling in good carbs again.
At the moment I'm riding roughly 30-40 miles a day with long / club rides at weekend. I recently experimented with low carb lunches again and really struggled with my after work ride. Something like mashed sweet potato with some tuna etc and a banana as I leave at 5 sees me fine for the 2 hours or so I am out and then cook a low carb dinner.
Then a carb-y breakfast on long ride days + home made flapjack and rice slab things on the ride seems to be working for me. We're all different though, the key is finding something that works!
Thanks for the link too, will give that a read later!0 -
About 10kg.
Already lost 10kg since Feb when I was given the OK to ride after surgery and a bit of, er, a lie down.
That should have me at about 10% to 15% BF.0 -
Sadly allowed my weight to creep up to 9st4lb from 8st10lb in January, so I'd like to get back there, but 8st7lb wold be even better for climbing.0

I need to shift 17kg. I was 152kg at my heaviest. MTB and powerlifting got me to where I am now (117kg), but I've plateaued for a while (mainly because I was still eating like a power lifter, but work commitments mean the gym has been off the cards since November. I got a road bike in around November/December but haven't managed to shift weight using it, but I am getting better at riding it. I did the longest ride I've done since I was a kid today (83km) and managed Cragg Vale a few weeks back, so whilst I'm getting fitter it isn't translating into weight loss.
Going to sort my diet starting from Monday and also start running too, just so I can sneak 30 minutes training in on nights I'm late back from work. Project 100kg starts now...0 -
