If you're on Monte Grappa for the TT today, please stand back and 'enjoy the action' - don't 'be a part of it'. #giro14

The crowd seems quite lively in places so don't know if they'll pay any attention to that. High five's on the way up:

Spent 5 minutes watching on that link, thinking wow they're bombing it, then asked when did Tony Martin tag in, then realised it was the Belgium tour.

What bikes they using - road bikes with clip ons mainly?

This is GCN's look at that:

Mostly road bikes but maybe a bike swap for some.
I wonder if some of the teams come under pressure from bike suppliers to give the TT bikes another outing even if they swap to a road bike for the climb...?

Guess what!? @josvanemden just pauzed his @giroditalia TT to ask his girlfriend @kherpelinck to marry him! She said yes! Congratulations!

    How bizarre.

And thanks to tennis the world missed the moment.

And still they will whine and moan that it's unfair.

What's this about no support vehicles? Are riders carrying spare tubes like they did back in the day?

I know there are a lot of riders on the course and still to start so he'll drop down the order.... but that's quite a performance from Ben Swift. As he doesn't seem to have the pure sprinters speed, is he trying to reinvent himself? He's climbing very well.

Evans on the TT bike - assume he'll be changing at some point?

There was just an Italian tourism ad on Eurosport that was like the sort of thing they had at the Streatham Odeon 30 years ago... Was it a spoof?

Swift is climbing well but his time won’t look as impressive at the end of the day. The GC guys will be much faster than the current best times.

No, I'm not saying he's turning himself into a GC contender, but maybe hilly classics or hilly stage hunting might start to come into his range. Rather than relying on sprints.

Because of his slow time at the first check? I think it can be explained entirely by his using a normal road bike without even aero bars. Seems foolish in the extreme.

Also because he lost time to everyone not named Evans yesterday. I hope not though.
