Is it a foot of which you'll proabably use more that one? ie - To hold a circuit board up whilst you solder?

I have read so much information about soldering, and cant find anything about a bit of plastic to adjust the temperature.

I don't want to read about soldering anymore...

supplied with an oryx 50, you stick it in the hole in the side of the soldering iron, turn in appropriate direction by appropriate amount

more clues: it does not touch the solder itself, it is a thing in it's own right with a specific function

A thing in it's own right? Is it not part of the Oryx 50 soldering iron?

no, it's a separate thing, would you call a spoke key part of a wheel?

And is it capable of being used on a whole host of different soldering irons, or just one?
