The Queen stage of the Tour de Romandie:

    2014
    1. Spilak
    2. Froome s.t
    3. Costa +0.57

    2013
    1. Spilak
    2. Froome s.t
    3. Costa +1.03

Are we sure they didn't just play a tape of last year?

So Vincenzo "demon descender" Nibali made up no time on Chris "stabilizers" Froome on the descent? Say it ain't so...

Must be worrying for nibali if froome can just rock up and take a minute off him on a stage like that, or was he not taking today seriously?

I don't think Nibali is in great form to be honest. That attack today was a bluff imo.

Nibali was the first one to make an attack. Froome caught him, then dropped him. Then Spilak caught and dropped Nibali on his way to bridging across to Froome. Not impressive from Nibali, certainly when compared to the performances the other favourites for the TdF have shown.

He's done nothing all season. I reckon he hasn't really recovered from last season.

Could be. You'd maybe expect him to be going slightly better just after the Ardennes. Hopefully he's flying by the Tour.

i take it Froome walked down the descent, and that's why he's so far behind? Oh wait. It's amazing how close it was to last year.

Yeah that's what I mean, can nibali have any confidence in himself as a contender for the tour with 9 weeks to go or will he be resigning himself to being a bit part player? Looks a 2 horse race already which is a shame.

    Nice result.
When are Saxo and OPQS riders due in? 8)

The joke is lost, FF quit when he realized Froome was on a ride.

    Not compared to last year.

But here's how they've measuring up this season to date:

Froome: stage win and GC - Oman
    Catalunya: 6th GC
    Looking good for overall here

    Nibali: ummm

If Quintana decided to ride the Tour instead of the Giro it would probably make both races more competitive.

It's Nibali's sixth stage race of the year though, and he's yet to crack the top ten (and he's only been in the top ten on one stage before today).
It's only Froome's third race - he was 1st & sixth in the other two.

nibali won a giro last year where rigoberto uran uran came second and then lost the vuelta to a 41 year old. he's so overhyped its funny.

He's working on his tan. Cyclists find it harder to get one these days. Less sun apparently.
