Yeah, beautiful spot. I can't believe I didn't know it existed having cycled in/around Richmond Park for the last 6 years! :oops:0 -
Milemuncher1 wrote:mfin wrote:A lot of the photos lately are crap. At least try to compose a half decent photo people, otherwise they aren't worth looking at.
Or, can the OP rename the thread "any old sh1t photo you took whilst out on your bike".
And wtf would you know about that? Nothing judging by your lack of any actual posts.
What would I know about that? Oh, the answer is very simple, I can tell when a photo is crap, because it is so bluntly obvious that it doesn't even need explaining to anyone with a set of eyes.
Even if I don't post photos myself, I like looking at the photos on here (well, any that are at least half decent) and way way more people view than post so there's nothing odd about that. I so rarely stop to take photos when out on the bike that I don't have any to post, so what.0 -

I'm guessing he's referring to the fact that as you've got a fair stack of spacers and you've flipped your stem as well, suggesting that maybe your frame is on the small side? Don't take it too personally, they're a tough crowd to please here. Slammed stems, tan sidewalls and deep section carbon rims seem to win most of the plaudits.0 -

If that's the case then the guys a knobjockey. How someone has their bike set up is entirely up to them, got to have a slammed stem etc. FFS.0 -

Yes and no. A big part of me agrees with you and I regard stem slamming as a bit of a fad. We aren't all Pros after all and we haven't got their flexibility and core strength or need to be as aero as possible. That said, if you're gonna put pics of your bike on a public forum then don't be surprised if people pass comment.0 -

I'm in between sizes. If I went up one more I'd have too much in the way of reach. In an ideal world I'd be on something like a Synapse, but this wasn't an option when compared to the value the Six offered. Discussed it with a bike fit guy and he suggested the Synapse would be better, but the Six could be made to fit. So that's where it's ended up. Sure it doesn't have the slammed stem and all that stuff I'm sure Mr Sloppy is looking for. However, I've ridden it from London to Amsterdam and have suffered zero ill effects, so whilst some bloke on the Internet might not agree with how it looks. I enjoy riding it and it's very comfy, so that's really all that matters to me.0 -

It's subjective, of course, but your photos lack an interesting subject, are poorly composed and your bike is aesthetically unpleasing. I do like the one of the lake with swans.
If you're going to post photos online, don't get butt-hurt if you receive critique.
I’m not bothered about ‘critique’ as long as the critic knows what they’re talking about. That’s the thing with the internetzz, it used to be a case of, if you were into something, you would get a recognised ‘journal’ and there would be ‘quality control’ based on experience, from a framework / hierarchy, and that was earned, not given, there was an ‘editor in chief’ or whatever, who was there on merit. Now, any fuckwit, can write a ‘blog’ or whatever, with no background / experience, and they can say / do what they want. That’s the thing with modern life. Too many places for people who were ignored ( for good reason ) to have a voice. Rant over. You’ve proved by what you posted, you are firmly in the clueless camp
“Poorly composed” do one , what would you know? Nothing apparently0 -

Milemuncher1 - As a trained photographer with a too many years experience, the subject of photography is one of the few things that I am fully qualified to talk about and I can tell you that the composition of most of your photos that I have seen here on BR do, indeed, leave something to be desired when it comes to composition. BUT, don't let that put you off too much - you are in some good company as most of the others posting here are also pretty poor as well and most of yours do at least fulfil the remit of being 'scenic bike pics' - nobody ever amended the title of the thread to ' Show us your scenic bike pics that are also Works of Art'. On the plus side, at least you never try to get all 'arty' and 'creative' by turning everything into B&W in Photoshop (or whatever) which, as I have said elsewhere usually only results in turning a poorly exposed and mediocre (aka crappy) colour picture into a similarly bad B&W version.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

Now if you’d have picked on an aspect, which I’d agree was ‘wrong’ ( there are a few , but beyond my control, given the hardware) I’d agree, but you didn’t, which shows how full of shite you are. Jog on.0 -
Clearly you never get anything wrong and if it doesn’t go right, it must be someone else’s fault.

Wow, that's a great shot. Absolutely beautiful. I especially like the windmill in the background, adds that little bit of intrigue wondering if you're riding with it or fighting it. Thanks for the pic.
Thanks!

Milemuncher1 wrote:I’m only allowed to / supposed to ride at the pace of the slowest rider. I can’t help that.
Hmm... I have done a little research for you.
36 front and 18 rear @ a cadence of 70 rpm will give you a speed of 11 mph.
Or perhaps 38 x 19 @ 70 rpm: 11 mph.
Or we could really step it up to a crazy, heart pounding flapptty leg speed of 80 rpm:
That would be 36 front, 18 rear or 38 front, 19 rear or 39 front, 20 rear (give or take 0.3mph).
Those combo's at 80 rpm will achieve 11 mph.
How slow do you want to go? Or, should I say, what pace is the slowest rider?
You can go slow and pedal quickly: http://www.bikecalc.com/gear_speedseanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

Cheers, it's the approach to the Devils Staircase, low cloud was just starting to lift at this point.

Milemuncher - Maybe you didn't get the message but I was trying not to be over-critical of your efforts and would certainly not have expected my comment to elicit a response such as that above. To be blunt, you might not agree that most of your pictures lack decent composition but, as far as I am concerned, you are fooling nobody but yourself. Just take another look at the one of the tide mill that you posted on Saturday and tell me it's a masterpiece (or, indeed, anything other than a poorly exposed picture of a seemingly random stretch of water).Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

Can't you see ajaycee? It's the hardware's fault he was unable to point the camera in the right direction and consider the position of the sun.0
