Isn't that the opposite side from the Col de Pre? That is a fab climb.
Yes, well spotted, the Col du Pré is just above the tree line that you can see above the dam. The stage will come over there, across the dam, around the lake and then past where I took the picture from, on the way up to the Cormet de Roselend. Amazing place.0 -

Is the photo taken from near a restaurant? I think I spent an hour or so sitting out a thunder storm there a few years back with that view. It was a really hot day, until the storm, and I remember being overtaken by a butterfly going up the Col de Pré. That has now fallen into family folklore0 -

Yes there are a few restos around the edge of the lake, off to the right of where the picture is taken from.
I admit I chuckled at your butterfly incident. The Col du Pré is HARD.0 -
"Resto"? It's like Australia in here with everything being abbreviated!Ben

Hat! Perfectly framed, bit of local detail on the blackboard, obligatory lunatic pursuing the cyclist, folly on the horizon. Really suits the B&W0 -

Commute to work this morning. Took the MTB as I didn't trust 23mm tyres on the roads.
This is a couple of miles from the M5 and right next to the mainline to Wales, so hardly remote. Lovely morning too! Breaking fresh ice with my wheels as I went :-)0 -

I hired a bike when we were last in the Algarve, and cycled from the coast up to Monchique. Quite dramatic since a lot of it was on fire at the time. Spent a lot of time watching helicopters dumping water on the fires, and being rerouted by the firefighters.

Nice view and even nicer bike. Don't beat yourself up too much about the picture - there are far worse here on BR and at least you are wise enough to recognise the shortcomings of a camera phone (and brave enough to admit it).Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

That’s November, we go every year then. Fantastic weather, perfect for cycling. The fires devastate, but it all recovers remarkably quickly. The only evidence we see of the fires a few years back are a couple of bits of road on hillsides that melted the tarmac...

Getting back out there now that I can ride again, not as scenic as some of the pics but better than pics taken in my kitchen!0
