3ks, 1min. Not Cancallara's day. He should be good for the main two. Incremental gains each race.

Vande goes again. Tiring those two out as much as possible to give Terpstra the advantage in the sprint. Sagan covers and tries to keep the pace high.

Chase slowed. Suuuuurely they aren't going to play a slow-up game with Sagan. GT has got to let the other guys do what they're gonna do and chance it works out for him?
  • I reckon Thomas will give it a go after the next time Sagan closes one of the OPQS moves if he still has the legs.

500m, Vande foes, Geraint covers, Geraint sprint, Sagan comes past, Terpstra makes ground

    SAGAN WINS

SAgan, then G, then OPQS looking tired.

What a race that was. Nicely selective
  • The chasing group should be embarrassed, obvious exceptions excluded. hey even have the cheek to sprint for 5th. Farrarr can't even win that one.

Loved that. Sagan untroubled in the end. Needs dropping earlier.

    Great ride from Thomas.

Good race, the sprint may have been a little predictable but cracking none the less.

I think Thomas should not have supported Sagan there. He had little chance in the sprint.

Well done by Sagan, the others made him work for that. Strange tactics by OPQS, thought they would have tried the old 1-2. Geraint was very good tactically, having done a lot of early work he made Sagan and the OPQS riders mark each other but thought he might have gone for a long one 1 or 2km out. Ultimately Sagan too fast despite having to do much of the work in the last 10km.

Good ride from Thomas, he forced the selection. the group of 4 happy to have him on the back when they skipped off on to the pavement! Vandenbergh what a monster!

Really enjoyed that race most abusive sticky bottle secenarion for Sagan I've ever seen but he was such class at the end. Sky having a good one day season but poor stage one at the moment. Who'd have predicted that in January?

Great work by all the top four. Could have gone anyway. They collaborated well then forced the pace to siphon off the B riders before keeping the lead high enough to be comfortable. Good work Cancellara and Devolder - shame they got caught out in the crash but tried as hard as they could to bridge. Riders up front too strong though - even with an organised chase it wouldnt be certain they would catch them. Other riders in that G2 should be embarrassed. Anyone who thinks Sagan isn't all he is cracked up to be must be smoking the crack themselves. 100% Geraint should focus on the Classics over stage racing. Superb racing. triple A stuff.

Indeed. And I may have to start revising my view on Sagan.

I was thinking that myself. Looking a strong Classics team at the moment.
