All Nibali needed here was a bit of wet roads.

Nibali clearly stung into action, by yesterday's harsh words of an irate fan.

    Very few are.

But he has - together with Kiryienka - the best style on a bike in the peloton.

Betancur takes it, Birdsong too long at the front.

I do like it when I get a PTP win having looked at completely the wrong stage profile.

When Nib's attacked on the descent and Thomas got on his back wheel, They both went round a tight corner and Thomas lost a place ...Nibali the master at descending

    My man Chavenel was better.

Nibs always looks on the ragged edge descending ... Not a wheel I'd choose to follow too close ...

    It's entertaining stuff though.

Nib's and Chav gave us a bit of excitement.

Nibs has ave ry small hole to Betancur & Thomas at the front of a strung out descending peloton.

    'scuse me?

I'm all for the excitement Nibali's descending brings. But has he ever been rewarded for the amount of risk he takes? His aggressive style may have cost him a rainbow jersey, in Italy, and one day his luck will run out on another GT spill.

It's a predictable trademark move. Odd he hasn't binned it.

Exciting final 50ks or so. Shame on the 'climbers' though...amount of sprinters, albeit not pure sprinters, is telling.

So Betancur was pretty overweight coming into this year. He has won twice already. Not bad for a fat man. Impressive.

What was the GT thingy he won last year  .I recall him riding pretty fast downhill and dropping Wiggo

Rememeber when the Schleck bro's lost a lot of time in the tour because they could not descend in the wet.

It can do damage and win a big race.

Didn't Nibali slide off on the same stage as Wiggins? Fortunately he had a soft landing. Hell of a risky way to take on a GT when you can smoke the peloton uphill - as he did while winning that Giro thingy.

Agree with Macca - I do genuinely wonder if its said by any other cycling commentator or if it's just something Phil/Paul/Carlton have just sort of made up and perpetuated...

That was more a case of those riders losing time rather than Nibali gaining it. Plenty of riders took time out of them. NIbali was far from unique.

Nibali is a mad descender - but his crash rate is pretty high

I actually think someone like Samu is a great descender
