Stunning. Easy to forget amidst all the doping talk just what a beautiful sport this is.0 -

it is a lovely photo with beautiful composition and amazing tones - bit odd the way the shadows fall. The suns rays are practically parallel and so should the shadows they cast be parallel. Yet the man in the white hat and two girls in polka dots at the right side have shadows which make an angle of about 45deg with the shadows of the guys in red and blue at the left hand side. I guess it is a corrected wide angle lens shot - or it is a lot steeper than the photo shows and the horizon is tilted.
Still a great shot0 -
Is there anywhere we can buy prints of these (thinking keeping the quality as good as possible as some are lovely) rather than copy/paste/print out and lose quality.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Firstly - 1934. Rene Vietto sits on a wall having ridden back up the course (legal at the time) to give a wheel to his crashed team (and race) leader, Antoinin Magne. Rene Vietto had stood to inherit the lead himself. He's watching the race pass by in anguish waiting for the team car to arrive. Magne won the GC. Vietto was fifth. It's quite a famous photo.
The committee are reconsidering this entry

This is also my favourite photo of bike racing ever. Absolutely states the sacrifice of supporting your team leader (look on Froome).
Where can I get hold of a good print of this?+++++++++++++++++++++

Well worth a read about Tommy Prim. Must admit I had never heard of him. Sounds like a pretty amazing rider.

One of a small number of extremely talented Swedish riders who found a place in Italian cycling in the 70's and 80's, it's worth reading up on the Pettersson brothers and Knut Knudsen.0 -
We all know it's about the anticipation, right?
A more mundane (yet no less glorious) take on the Tour - an antidote to the hyperbole...

Perhaps in the Froome urine incident, this isn't so much the "smoking gun" as the "dribbling winkle",,,?

Haha that is unreal, not least as he has his kid next to him. Maybe it is a family tradition...the old man doesnt seem phased by it at all (he has probably seen three generations and as we know they dont make them like they used to).Contador is the Greatest0
