Nukeproof Mega TR

New forks fitted this evening. They have had a full service from TF Tuned and been dropped to 140mm. Plenty of mud clearance under the 650b arch!
Although they are used there isn't a mark on them. I got them from a Marzocchi sponsored rider who only used them a couple times before they sent him the new 350ncr.
They feel proper nice but due to a back injury I won't be able to ride for another couple weeks.
My new Santa Cruz seems to have sneaked in to the photo as well!
I think they look rather nice :-)Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Very nice. I really want a DBInline, how you finding it?0

Best air shock I have ever ridden, feels more like a coil. Most efficient pedal platform I have used as well. I definitely recommend getting one.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

It's the logic that persuaded the boss it was the right decision. I also said I was going right off the bike because the shock was so harsh and a DB Inline would save me needing a new frame.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Still recovering from a back injury but managed 15 miles on Salisbury Plain this morning. Freezing cold and all fire road but nice to be able to ride again. New forks feel excellent, can't wait to see how they work on a proper ride.

This could be the end of my Mega TR. Its an awesome bike but Im REALLY tempted to buy a Transition Scout. Theres very little about the Mega I can fault but I just like the idea of a slack, short travel bike with horst link suspension and a frame size smaller than the XL Mega but not quite as small as a large Mega.
A test ride tomorrow should decide it.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I'm expecting a detailed review, 500 words minimum.
I have one eye firmly fixed on the Transition site at the moment, only two questions, can I afford one and which one do I want...0 -
Im ignoring the first question!
Finding a large demo bike isnt easy but I know a Transition sponsored freerider (Chris Smith) who has offered to lend me his bike for a day on his day off.Top bloke but I think it's going to cost me!
I cant wait for the ride tomorrow!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Be interesting to see how you get on. Tempted in swapping out my Remedy for one of these but I fear I'm in between sizing and won't get a decent fit with it being a bit longer. Will see how you get on and perhaps look at finding a medium to demo.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0

Well the Scout is very good. Really nice rear suspension thats nicely progressive and efficient. The geometry works really well, huge front end grip which I think is partly down to the riding position putting my weight nice and central.
It seems to like being ridden hard and is nice to jump, I was boosting jumps I woukd normally scrib on my Mega.
Its also very yellow.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Sounds like it ticks most of the boxes.
Question is are you going to get one?Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -

I think I am :-)Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Transition frame ordered :-)
Sadly this one has to go, its been great fun but its time to move on.
If anyone is interested, the frame will soon be up for sale with either the CCDB Inline or RS Debonair shock when I have decided which to keep!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Was about to go post will you, won't you but no need.
When will it be arriving?Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -
It should arrive Tuesday. I have also ordered a new set of 650b Hope tech enduro wheels, they're the best wheels I have ever had and only £310.
Due to my clever fork buying, the Marzocchis on the Mega are 650b so they are going on the Scout. Nice forks, very impressed with them.
I was lucky enough to borrow this bike for a day to test ride it on these trails, but I cant ride this well.

you going to try it with the monarch first?0
-
Yes. The bike I tried was on a Marzocchi Rocco Lite which felt really good. I will probably end up using the DB Inline unless the Monarch Debonair is a major improvement over the standard Monarch.
Im quite tempted to get a PUSH tuned Fox Van RC when I go to the Alps with it.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
If I had the cash I would be interested in the Suppressor0
-
I have ridden one. Very nice but you need to be riding big stuff to make it worthwhile. It would make a great park/freeride bike.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

lucky I have inners etc close by then isn't it0

Make sure you wrap the cables in something to dull down the sound, electrical tape or some thing where they pass through the frame, they are nice and noisy rattling about0
