Hodders is good but Smiths is better and I quite like Somerton Coombe as well.
Quantocks are amazing, like an all natural trail centre. Triscombe is good as well, loads of great trails.
I think I need a Spank Spike Race stem and Spank Spike 777 bars in black.

Very much this! A lot more stable and more room to move around. That's one thing that really annoys me on so many bikes these days, they look awesome and seemingly fit all the requirements only to find the toptube's are too short and you have to go a size up, which for me isn't ideal cos I've got short legs and a long torso. Looking forward to seeing this finished, a mate is considering one of these to replace his old reign.

See i have the oppostie, i'm very long in leg short in body so at 6'2" i ride a mediem 17.5" and fits perfect with a 380mm dropper post, just goes to show how much body shape really effects fit and size of bike.

Give it a quick weigh this evening. It's lighter than I expected at 29lb. My Anthem was 27lb so with the heavier frame and forks I was expecting 30+lb

First ride today and it's very good.
It climbs very well, I just left the shock propedal type thing open and still got no real pedal bob.
Going down the hills its really good. Nice and stable, stiff and turns nicely. Boosting it off the first jump was a mistake, I overshot the landing by four feet! It seems to pop off kickers with no effort.
The sizing is closer to most large bikes than XL. It felt spot on for me and im only 6'1"

It's been a week now so time for the first modification.
The stupid bloody pushloc remote has to go so I have ordered a compression adjuster knob. I just need to remove the return spring from the compression damper and bolt on the new knob. What could go wrong???

Had a great ride on the Quantocks yesterday.
Really impressed with the bike. It climbs far better than I expected, I got up the steepest, longest climb without propedal and didn't notice any bob.
Going down the hills it gave loads of confidence. It's very stable and steers nicely. I didn't feel that the 130mm travel was lacking at any time.

You won't go far wrong with the Transition. All their bikes ride really nicely.

The five year old Shimano crank pinch bolts finally rounded off this morning.
£23 for a pair of steel shimano bolts or £3.99 for a pair of titanium bolts.
Thats about 4 grammes off the bike now :-)

I have been riding a lot over the last couple weeks.
There's a couple things to be changed, new SLX cranks, Blackspire Stinger chain device, 780mm bard and a new 50mm stem are on the way.
Also getting the shock PUSH tuned for a bit more mid stroke damping.
Photos with shiny new parts soon.

Conveniently a mate is getting the monarch on his mega am in January so I'm going to see how it works before I get mine done.

Nice!! Needs a dropper imo, Thompson should be shipping the stealth version of there post in may apparently, looks pretty good if you're not keen on a Reverb or KS

I will get a dropper eventually but need to get a load of race entries paid for first.
I'm thinking of doing a few enduros on this bike as well as plenty of dh races on my big bike.

looking good, i keep looking at the mega frame on crc and just need to see how much i can spend to put one together, was thinking 1900 might be enough seeing as i am eyeing up a canyon too.
