Will be attempting to get mine off this week. Have this years model and don't really like the yellow stripes so hope they haven't decided to start lacquering over them. Thanks for the info.

Pretty sure they're lacquered on now mate, but could be wrong.

    Bugger.

I can confirm that the 2014 models have clear coats on top of the decals and are impossible to remove.

Gave the bike a good thrashing at DHFarm @ Portsoy the other night...

Excuse the crappy phone pics :)

The Mega held up really well, although when I go back I think I'll have to set my forks up a bit stuffer! Shock felt bottomless though!

Deffo worth a visit if you can ;)

haha nice rubber duck! The bike is looking good dude.

Got any plans for new parts in the works? Or is she good as she stands? (assuming it's a 'she')

    Haha, that's Quack-Quack :)

I built it how I wanted it so no real changes planned unless anything breaks, although I was considering braided cables next time the brakes need bled. I do need to chop an inch of the bars and will need to get the bushings changed in the forks by end of summer but otherwise it's running pretty sweet :D

Testing out some Easton Haven 711mm bars to see if I like the size, then might buy the carbon version... thanks for planting the seed Oxo

Also finally removed the downtube stickers.

Looks much better without the stickers I think! Also is that chain guide the blackspire one with only top guide and bash?

Haha yeah I should have done it ages ago! Looks much better :D

It's a Blackspire Einfachx with just the upper guide, no bash. That combined with the NW ring and clutch mech is a decent combo, haven't dropped a chain yet.

Just after taking the photo I cut the excess metal off the backplate with my Dremel as it's for up to 42t, and I run 34t. Looks much cleaner now, and less likely to catch my ankle.

I’ve been eyeing up some Diety T-Mo Carbon & Race Face SIXC bars to replace the Atlas / Havens.

Ahh I see. I'm tempted to buy the one that has a taco on there as well, just for a little extra protection.

Probably a wise move! I've hit mine once or twice but thankfully it's just laughed it off so far!

Looks way better without them decals indeed! Now I'm thinking I should have ordered my Mega TR in grey and done the same.

    Haha cheers!

The new models have lacquer over the decals I'm afraid, so no way to remove them other than to strip the entire frame! Still, the new decals are a lot less garish than the old ones and suit the lines of the bike better ;)

Yeah, the new ones look a bit better but the raw industrial look you've achieved suits the bike best :)

Couple of pics from last nights forest exploration...

    p4pb11214376.jpg

    p4pb11214377.jpg

Racing Ralph on the rear has totally changed the ride. Seems much faster but still plenty of grip. I think I'll be sticking with this combo from now on.

Last outing for those bars too, as the carbon Chromags should be here today / tomorrow :D

    Cold, hard and black

Very stiff, and seem to reduce trail buzz quite a bit. Otherwise I think I have got the length spot on which probably makes more of a difference. Very happy with them though, especially for the bargain basement price.
