Congrats to Fulham for their promotion. Quite satisfying to see John Terry fail to get back to the PL with Villa.
Not as satisfying as the twunts penalty miss in the Champs League though.0 -

Lacking any club allegiances like yourself I would've quite liked to have seen Liverpool win it. Their run to the final had all the romantic qualities of a cup run from, to go all UKIP briefly (urgh), the good old days. Playing with a complete lack of fear and reverence for whoever they were facing, a couple of kids at full back each side of the pitch quite literally winging it and learing on the job, plus those bursts of intensity and clusters of goals in games where you just thought, wow...great watching for a neutral.
And then to end it all there was Karius. Is he actually a professional footballer or someone from a key sponsor of UEFA who won the chance to play in the final?0 -
As a keeper myself - only casual football, hockey to a bit higher level - I always sympathise. As Tash says, the difference as a keeper is that your mistakes tend to have massive and very evident consequences.
It should also be pointed out that he was cynically and viciously taken out by you-know-who moments before the first error.0 -
Oddly enough, the 2 Liverpool fans in our office (the ones that will admit to it anyway) aren't in today. They probably correctly anticipated being on the receiving end of a spot of p1ss taking."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

The one in my office was in but was thought to be avoiding me. When I got hold of him he was in the weirdest mood. Totally out of character. A blend of grief, depression and anger. In spite of all that he was in LFC propaganda mode, refusing to criticise anyone connected to the club. I thought he'd gone a bit mental.0 -

Agreed but just the kind of player then that Arsenal(and several other sides know doubt) need to toughen up their soft underbelly.
As an aside its such a shame that this forum is generally devoid of RS forumites for all the fun they provide - perhaps cyclists have a general level of intelligence which renders them immune to the cult of RS fandom.
Anyone signed the petition to get Ramos banned then? F***ing divvies the lot of them.0 -

This Country needs got get used to the idea of being "professional" as everyone else has.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

You have criticised football fans previously along the lines of football being more about being a such and such fan rather than the game itself but as far as I am concerned, you win fairly or not bother playing.
Ramos has pushed the envelope on so many occasions that it seems he wants to win at any cost. That is cheating and wrong.
Anyway, you can watch all his 26 career red cards on Youtube.

What - like taking massive amounts of salbutamol and getting dodgy tue and Jiffy bags and then after being busted dragging it all out for sooooooooo long in the hope it will go away?
Nah. Never. Never happen with a British team. Johnny Foreigner maybe....Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Anyhow - any difference between Ramos and the Keanes/Wise/that ginger haired dude who played for Manure of this world?
All more than happy to get a bit stuck in behind the ref's back to gain an advantage.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Retrospective VAR is going to be used to issue red cards. Non contact sport soon with lots (more) of diving. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Maybe VAR will reduce the diving.
Perhaps it can also be used for retrospective offences.
Maybe harsher penalties for diving.
The fast paced modern game is a joy to watch and if that means less contact, then all the better for it.
How one avoids a tackle though, I do not know. That aspect will never be removed but if players know going into a tackle that their actions (attacker or defender) will be scrutinised, then that is a good thing shirley?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Looks like Chelski will have to wait for their new stadium which probably has nothing to do with the current issues faced by owner.
