So, what do our resident Gooners think of Arsene's new two year contract?

    Happy??

    Indifferent.

But we have a chance of winning the Europa'Euro Cup Vase wotsit. lol.
I think we'll see the same old same old for the next 2 seasons. No consistency. No spine. A good start to the season, a very poor middle and a pick up at the end which just about salvages it and no more.
My concern is that we loose Sanchez and the likes of Wellbeck. You could build a team around Sanchez. Xhaka needs to get his act together. He can be very good and then very poor. Koscielny is excellent but they all have this tendency to play without real heart once in a while and it let's everybody down. When the commitment and the work rate is present, they can beat anyone.
Wenger needs to stop praising them on the back of an explicitly poor performance and crack the whip - which he won't do, so the status quo will continue.

Sanchez wants to come to City, and who can blame him?

I do wonder whether Wenger's ego is getting the better of him. Football has moved on and, sadly, you have to spend BIG money to be sustainably successful nowadays. Wenger clearly isn't happy doing this and his principles, honourable as they are, will likely get in the way. There's talk of him getting £100m to spend (don't know whether this includes or is in addition to any transfer revenue) which is only two to three quality players (or one sh1t Paul Pogba  ) and will that be enough?

I have to agree with Stevo, I think most fans of the other top 4 contenders will be quite chuffed he's staying.

Asmir Begovic now a Cherry. £10m for a quality Premium Lge and Intl keeper. It's a transfer that has pretty much gone under the radar, as per usual when AFCB are concerned. Could turn out to be the best under rated signing of the summer.

Just need Nathan Ake back now.

I'm curious too. I think he'll be number 1 choice for next season and probably worth 5 to 6 points by May 2018. Which has for a low to mid table team is good value.

Cherries make a couple of high profile signings.
Ake from Chelski for £20m. Lot of dosh for a versatile defender, whom I'm sure will be bought back by Abramovich in 3 years for £65m.
Not so sure about the Defoe business. 3 year contract that pays him £20m. But if he can bang in the goals over next year to 18 months then the outlay will be recouped I guess.

As long as Defoe continues with the same commitment, I think he could be very handy. He scored quite a few goals for Sunderland despite very meagre service.
He's always committed and his work rate is good. despite his age, he's still fit and he still has pace. If he can get a good link up with someone else up front, then you should be doing well.
£20m over 3 years does not actually pay for much these days.

£20m total cost (i.e. Salary plus transfer fee, of which there wasn't one) to get a striker that has proven himself as a decent PL striker is decent business.

However, it's been years since he scored more than 18 goals (TH 2009-2010 - from 34 appearances). The last 2 seasons (with poor service) he has scored 15. So maybe Mr Howe is figuring that 15 to 20 goals would be a reasonable expectation.
According to the stats, never had a red card and doesn't notch up may yellows, so at least as a manager, you'll know he will keep his head and he will stay on the pitch.

3 year deal seems a bit brave given his age, just shows how much cash even rank average Premier clubs have to burn. I could understand a one year agreement but seems risky to me otherwise.

Reportedly Sanchez and his Representatives want a £400 k Week Salary ( Puts him on the same Level as Messi/ CR7) and has priced himself out of a Move to Bayern Munich.

Only CItee can afford or would be stupid enough to pay this! ( Maybe PSG ) . After what happened with RVP to Man Utd I Hope Wenger has the onions to just make him see out his contract! Man Maths says retain him for 12 Months on his Circa £150 k per week (Net Saving £13 Million ) over paying him the £400 K and then let him go at the end of the Season.

Its a gamble , but who knows! Retaining him and the Additon of Lacazette would put out a Positive / Strong message
Selling him to a Prem rival just puts us back again. Paying him £400k just opens the gates for others to Mug us off.

Sanchez has Probably got a Market value less than £50 million due to the length of Contract remaining. The differentiation in pay in extended the contract would be another £13 million over the season to Arsenal (even if he wanted to stay)

Force him to see out his contract, we are not going to find a player for the Net £37 million ( again you can deduct probably £5-6 million on the incoming players wages ) so call it £30 million , who will have the impact he has.

If we actually got back in the ECL he could even be tempted to extend, and in the interim the clubs in the EPL would have gone out and signed others in his position.

We cannot get back into the cycle of selling our best players to premiership rivals! If Wenger is stopping for another 2 years than this is one area of Business he definitely needs to be stronger against the board on.
