Looked like J-Rod mistook the first line on the road as the finish line... ANyone else see that?

Yes he did, but made no difference

having 2 riders in there at the end seemed like a master stroke by Spain, but probably ended up their undoing.

    Shi t result

Costa with the rainbow bands for a year. What a disaster.

    Nibs with no medal.

Shaped up to be a good race but no one had the balls apart from Nibali.

    Good racing from Rodriguez.

    Classics riders total disappointment.

    And then BBC coverage.
So lets sum this up, Costa rides 272km in shitty weather, stays with the spannish wheelsuckers for whole race, dropping your idol the steak eater, ends up in leading group of 4 with 2 GT winners and another doper, and he outwits the two spannish and wins and you claim a shite result? Interesting

No - Vino winning Olympic gold. Now that's a disaster

Good effort by Nibs but he was never going to win given his off earlier. I'm not a fan but very cleverly ridden by Rui Costa. Thought the two Spanish would have sussed out the ending between them better than that

In Frenchie's warped world, it's only good if a doper wins.
    He has no class.

well ridden by Costa, feel for JRod.

No way would BBC cut away from a football presentation - pathetic.

Well at least we don't have to put up with Pat any more :D
  • Valverde: How could some one with so much practice of sitting on wheels miss the one than counted?

Not 'cos he's a doper. 'Cos he didn't help Nibs win.

Excellent race. Looked like a dream situation for Valverde with a national and professional team mate so glad Costa went on the counter as it basically prevented a Valverde win. Nibali shouldn't have been there after being motor paced back after his spill. If Uran hadn't gone down it would have made the last few kms more balanced and no doubt Nibali could have paid him off

Poor by Belgium, all that work and never got close when the serious attacks finally came. As for GB, probably best saying nothing. I didn't expect anyone to be in contention for medals but thought they'd would have had a few finish!

Uran couldn't ride his way out of a paper bag... even in today's weather.

Costa has been banned before fyi. (Tainted supplement apparently later proved).

A good solo rider with a great palmares but really wanted Jrod to take it.

You see how he attacked straight after the catch and gesticulated...sure that was for Valverde who should have attacked and allowed Jrod to sit in a bit. Classy by him to then tell him what for with 250m to go.

Quite possibly! After the team cars had done such a good job of getting him back into the peloton after his crash too!

If that were the case surely he'd have loved this race? Convicted doper wins Worlds with a convicted doper third - great for the image!
