Think Dowsett will be recovering from illness after the tour of Britain. He'll be back.... no problem.

Tony Martin a class apart today. Very well paced ride by Wiggo to take the silver and I think he should be very proud of that.

Tony Martin would have been sixth in the team time trial.
Despite Martin's epic form, that is embarrassing.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Gutted for Dowestt but as above he has plenty of time to get there. Great battle between Spartacus and Wiggins there but Martin was in a league of his own. The final placed rider was about 15 minutes down!

Anyone know why the Ugandans didn't turn up?

I read on twitter that the money earmarked to send them over was embezzled. I can't speak to the accuracy of that though.

    It's an impostor.
  • I think the story of that time-trial was for all to see on the podium. Wiggins' legs looked positively skinny compared to Martins, and Spartacus looks like he's dropped a bit of weight, presumably for the Road Race. The only way Wiggins could win that was getting a thigh transport...

Bearing in mind the dreadful (it's all relative) season he's had, it's a good result, all things considered.

He was even skinnier in 2012 and I'd wager 2012 Wiggo would have been closer to Martin today.

No, skinny legs will do fine, the watts they are continually putting out over the duration are nowhere near the maximum their legs would put out in a short burst sprint. The legs bit you observe doesn't really mean anything here.

What a ******* shoot show. Really wanted Fabu to get silver.

Was moaning he didn't get any time checks from the car.

Unless you're a sprinter you don't need big legs, the forces put through the pedals are relatively small and aren't the limiting factor. It's VO2Max and the percentage of this you can hold for (in this case) 1hr 5 minutes that is important.

As always I was cheering for Cancellara, but that was one class act by Martin. No doubt he's the best right now. To be honest, hats off to Wiggin's performance too.

Agree, Tony wasnt shy in the NOS interview about admitting that that was a perfect course for him, I suspect that that was a major factor too

Good race. Still don't think Wiggo is at the level he was a year ago, time trialling or otherwise, so impressive to take 2nd. Great ride by Martin. Cancellara should be involved big time on Sunday.

Yep, he's in perfect shape to lead out the sprint for the line on sunday.

Great race and real class by Martin.

NOS is the Dutch sports channel, which is all I could watch today...the Dutch equivalent of Sporza, Rai or ITV Sport
