Wonder how accurate those GPS timings are? Wiggins the slower starter but that's his usual approach.
They're not going to be super-accurate, I wouldn't start counting individual seconds or anything based on that data.
  • Dr Hutch is advising caution re early time checks. Reckons pattern shows that 1st split ' is almost no guide to finish order at all'

Boardman just said similar - reckons the 24km time check is the one to look at for a more accurate indication
  • It may not be much help if you're at work but I'm going to try Hula Unblocker extension for Chrome to watch Friday's U23 YouTube stream

    its the same course, right?

Shame Cancellara`s kit is a step down from previous years.

Let's hope so - Wiggins 6th at first split nearly 16 seconds down but then he always loves his negative splits.

It seems to be the standard BC approach for individual and team pursuiting too. Start fairly steadily and then start to wind the pace up as the race progresses.
  • Should be an interesting sub plot among the OPQS riders....

    What the...??? Cat attack!!

lol, Just tuned in, and some local moggy went mental at a rider.
    WTF?

A cat seemed to be crossing the road just as a rider went past. Cat freaked out and jumped in the air in fright. My above post was a bit dramatic on reflection. They did a nice slow-mo replay of it though, so Im sure the Beeb will show it again later
haha, will look out for it!

I like how still they look. From the hips up they're virtually stationary with just their legs going like pistons. It doesn't look fast, it looks almost like they're just doing a gentle warm up.

To highlight the going hard early approach Dennis loses time in the final section to finish behind Siutsou.

EDIT he lost around 20 seconds in that last bit.

    Roche now in 2nd spot.

thanks for that, i found that if i load them at home then "sign in" to chrome at work and let it do all the syncing, then things can get installed that would nt get past the usual blocks...

Dowsett seems to be way off the pace, almost 2 mins down on Kiri at the 2nd check.

Anybody think it may come back to bite Bradley on the arse - his not taking time checks?

I have a pair of Assos shorts that went like that after a few years use and regular washing. I use them just on the turbo now. Maybe Cancellara's using a skin suit that's been through the wash a few too many times?

Not really. If he can go faster he should go faster, regardless of what anyone else is doing.

Come on Cancellara, would love it if he manages to win this.

(Wiggins asked not to have time checks??)
