  • Difficult to say without that luggage weighing thing.

That said, SRAM Red is 1750g now. I concede I've not changed the rear mech or brakes but their weights are the same.

    So,

    Groupset 1700g
    Wheels 1550g
    Frame 1700g
    Fork 300g
    Seatpost 160g
    Bars 180g
    Stem 130g
    Pedals 206g
    Seat 185g

So, that's 6111. Add in 250g for chain, probably 100g extra for the non Red cassette, 200g for cables, 600g for tyres and tubes and we're knocking at the door. But it's conjecture and I'm sure I've missed something or added something too much.

Not that it really matters, it's bloody sublime to ride and the only reason I've stated the weight is that it's in the template :)

  • You can weigh yourself before lifting the bike and after... the difference is the bike... might be a + or - 200 grams, but it gives you a pretty close value

  • Which I did, see above. Comes in at 6.9kg. I reckon that's at the light end, more likely to be 7.1 or 7.2.

I was just impressed with the weight given that most pro bikes with PMs and elec shifting come out at 7.1-7.5 these days. Unless your Quintana-sized or leave the PM off for a mtn stage etc.

I was curious b/c I'd love to have a 7 kg steel bike with the stiffness of a Stock or Super 6. But in 30 years in this sport I've not yet seen it.
    When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.
  • I think most pros struggle to get up to 6.8 now!

  • Wasn't sure about the 25's. Made it look a bit over tyred. So swapped for 23c And bought a SRAM Red 2013 mech which looks way nicer.

I ordered the same frame yesterday, size 52. Did you weigh the frame/fork before of building it?

I just need to decide if to build it up with my previous 6700 groupset (actually on a BMC, http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40090&t=12961965), or if to go with a Centaur.

Nah, I was coming off a Canyon so, basically, I knew it would be heavier. But I offset with many lighter components. I wasn't worried about the overall weight but it's come out very light. Now that I've finally sorted my positioning out it absolutely flies. I love it.

Stuck the 25's back on mind. It needs 25's in my view.

On group set, well, I think Centaur would look wonderful. IMO it needs either blacks or proper silvers. SRAM Red kind of covers both bases but also picks out some of the reds on the frame.

Did you opt for the new blue one?

Thought you might go back to 25's they roll nicer and take a bit more punishment, with the roads as they are you need that!

Yeah, 23's are a young man's game. I have a feeling as well that the 25c Michelin are slightly wider than 25c

i went for a matt black and gloss black decals... Curious to see the result! I need to wait 8-10 weeks

25's are a much better bet, better rolling resistance, not much heavier and more comfortable. I believe the majority of the pro bikes are on 25mm now.

Yeah, much nicer. I run 28-30c on the other bike. Not noticeably better than 25 which I think is the best width.

Mind, you won't get 28's on an Acciaio.

Yes, I did today my first km on it (70). Compared to the BMC (previous bike with Ultegra) this seems like a glove and the gear changes are so crispy and fast. I like the ride, I like the feeling I get from the road. I don't think it is slower then the previous one (do not know the weight jet). I managed to beat some of my times in Strava even if I was not riding in the last 6 weeks

Few upgrades. Obviously on went the Red Yaw mech, but I had to match the rear mech. I left the older style Red brakes on as they are nicer.

Changed the bars to Deda Zero 100 which I really like.

Then you have a worse problem... your house is at an angle... :?

    Nice bike!

If you don't mind my asking, where did you get those bottle cages from? I'm getting a Fratello soon and think they'd go really well... Only thing is I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere in the UK...
