Looking v good mun.
Keep the black bar tape unless you're going to have a celeste saddle as well. As it is the fame is a lovely contrast.
I like Arundel steel cages for this.

Looks great, can't beat the timeless look of a nice steel frame. Let us know how she rides."That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0

Very nice. I believe I have seen Fabian Cancellara with a matching blue speedplay pedal somewhere, not sure if you can buy it or not0

Hi BenderTheRobot
Thats an impressive looking steel bike you've created. Its a good feeling when you select all the parts and frame and build it up. It may cost slightly more than an off the shelf mass produced bike but its unique and is a nice project to do. I could have saved about 0.4lbs going the SRAM route but at the time it was about £100 more than the carbon athena I opted for ( you viewed my super acciaio build a couple of weeks ago ). Other weight saving areas would have been saddle and seatpost, but so far I don't think I'm noticing that 0.5Kg total weight saving . But as an engineer ( unemployed one at that ) it always eats away at me but you have to have some budget control..... I'm not Bill Gates. One thing I did find was that on paper, from manufacturers quoted weights, my bike was heavier than it should have been by calculation! ( That was including cables, bearings etc ).
Looking at your bike and my own made me visit Condors website last night and look at all the beautiful frames and imagine the fun in choosing a handful to build up. Anyway you've a bike to be proud of, hope it rides beautifully too.0 -
Thanks!!
The whole experience was lovely.
Next project? Update the croix de fer. Swap to orange fratello I think.......My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Yes the fratello looks very nice too in its orange paint. Another bike, though not from UK, that looks nice is the Salsa Warbird. Though the name also adds to its image, its sort of a cross bike though they use them for "gravel racing" which sums up UK roads! . Genesis equilibrium frame looks good too.
heres a link, again good bike and very orange, the dale winton of bikes.

I also think the planet-x kaffenback 2 with its disc provision and only £250 frame and fork looks good as a cross bike/tourer project.0 -
Loving that salsa. Shame we don't have anywhere to do gravel racing over here0
-
It's beautiful, not sure what the RRP is with an EVNE fork mind.
Right, cages sorted. Plumped for these:

The bike does look well now it's finished.0

I have planned a respray for my CdF too... but I keep delaying it... I use it every day and the hassle of taking it to parts , taking the frame to the powder coat guys, building it back... it's an all week of commuting by tube... I'll wait for some crap weather...
At the moment I am enjoying the alps in Italy anyway...left the forum March 20230 -
Not to rub it in or anything Can I ask the true meaning of your Latin phrase? I see someone has actually asked on a Latin forum but no-one could come up with the precise answer0

Latin is a language with lots of rules and even more exceptions to the rules, but that sentence is straightforward... if people make a mess of it, they should go back the grammar books
They should try this one: "ne quis miretur" which is a collection of exceptions to the grammar rulesleft the forum March 20230 -
I believe that under roman law witnesses used to swear on oath before giving evidence by holding their testicles hence the expression to testify. That might be an urban myth though
am I right Paolo in saying that Italian men customarily hold their testicles when a funeral courtege goes by?0 -

That is correct and it is the very essence of the latin sentence in question... I stopped doing that with ambulances though, as in London I'd have to grab my balls all day longleft the forum March 20230
