What's wrong with that? They have a wide enough range to please every customer...left the forum March 20230 -
Never been in the shop, but it's in London and they sell Assos and Rapha
But, honestly, it was just a lovely online buying experience. Personal service and smooth as can be.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

IMHO i found it quite diffrent..... when a few weeks ago when i went in to place my order for a frame , did not see any of this " up themelves " all in all it was postive experience , thy did tell me they were now going to only sell there own brand and were clearing out there remaining Cervelos .0 -
I have always found them very friendly and happy to help. I got an Italia from them and despite it being a "budget" bike from them, they still spent a good couple of hours with me fitting, discussing the spec etc as well as sorting out the bike to work bits and bobs.RIP commute...
Sometimes seen bimbling around on a purple Fratello Disc or black and red Aprire Vincenza.0 -
I have recently ordered a Super Acciaio in rapha team colours, did it all via emailing back and forth with Seb. The whole experience has been a complete joy to be honest, Seb has been superb and always answers my emails (of which there where many) nearly instantly. There was a 6-8 week delivery time but they got that down to 5 weeks and its due in aberdeen this week. The shop where great with helping me size the frame as thats all im buying. To be honest I cant fault them at all and highly recommend them. Wish my local shops paid as much attention.
Building the bike up with a full dura ace 9000 group, 3T Ltd carbon bar, stem and post along with possibly Fulcrum Racing zeros. Going to be a great ride and hopefully not to far of the weight of my Focus izalco pro.
P.S cracking looking Acciaio you have there, great choice in colour.0 -

I stand by what I said. I used to work round the corner, yes, they could be helpful - but my most recent experience (buying shoes) they really gave the impression they didn't want to know unless I was spending £zillions.
So I went to another shop, where I got top notch service, and bought them there as a result.
It's a lovely place, but I'd prefer the old bike range. Mind you, Condors are rather lovely...
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -

Why thank you!
Seb's great. I hate mailing people too much as I wonder whether I'm annoying them but he was brilliant and dealt with every tiny detail down to me fretting about whether the headset would be installed and whether there was a bolt in the front fork for the brakes (turns out there was one in both front fork And read bridge). My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

LOL, he must get sick of it as he had pretty much the same questions from me right down to trying to get some Condor frame protectors for brake cables and specifying the type of seat clamp.
The only down side is my wife wont allow me the frame to christmas which is a bit of a bummer. Still got alot of small parts to order for it though like chain, rear cassette and gear cable housings.
Ive gone for the pink titanium speedplay pedals (use speedplay on my focus) but im wondering if it would be to much to go for pink bar tape to???0 -
Pinks great! The condor tape looks good to me.
What was particularly useful for me was that seb is, he says, same height etc as me. So I mixed some of my existing geometry with his

As a proud and happy Condor Acciao (2007) and Baracchi (2010) owner, I have been watching this thread with interest. I am planning a new Baracchi (just new frame and move the bits across from the old one) as my retirement bike. I am taking "voluntary" early severance from the civil service after 28 years, have no idea what to do next or where I will live (the house will have to go), but I'm definitely having a new Condor before the money runs out, which tells its own story.
Anyone who thinks that Condor are "up themselves", clearly hasn't tried some other bike shops that are. In my experience, this is a business that is passionate about the sport and welcomes customers who share that passion. Its true that they can be busy at times, but isn't that a good sign?
Getting back to the bikes, my Baracchi and Acciao supposedly share the same geometry, but they seem to ride very differently, which isn't just about materials (I have a custom Roberts, which feels much closer to the Baracchi than it does to the Acciao). The Acciao feels like a tight racing machine but its been round Flanders, which the Baracchi seems more suited for, if i wasn't afraid of stacking it on the cassiene (maybe the new one will go there next April though). I guess i should post some pics, in the meantime i'm looking forward to seeing the Super Acciaos that are mentioned in this thread.0 -
I think there's a review of these frames/bikes in 'The Comic' this week?.............they do look nice............0

My previous bike was a Canyon Cf ultimate with carbon wheels. Top bike. But my acciaio not much heavier, more comfy yet, it seems to me, stiffer and just as fast.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Change is afoot.
I was never keen on the SRAM Force front mech. Both because shifting isn't great and secondly because it ain't RED
So, I got to thinking about that Red YAW mech. Then I got to thinking I couldn't really just get that.
Then I thought I could do with a better job on my bar tape AND could slightly lengthen my cables in case I opt for a 10mm longer stem.
So, change is afoot. It's been slightly stripped down to be re-assembled.......watch this space.
(I have also been considering that new Fizik Handlebar and Stem)My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Just a quick update, i promise I will start a new thread and get some proper pictures uploaded once I start to build it up. For anyone waiting on a super acciaio turning up I promise this bike is amazing to look at, the attention to detail and paint work is miles ahead of my Focus izalko pro. I will also get some proper weights up to as this is a hell of alot lighter than i thought a steel frame could ever be.
Went a tad mental though and got the ceramic bottom bracket, ceramic headset, carbon headset spacers ad two carbon bottle cages. Now just waiting on the titanium speedplay pedals, 3T Ltd bar and Fulcrum racing zeros. This was meant to be a slow build but i cant help myself now.

That's lush! Hurry up with your build thread. I'm interested in the seat post clamp, which looks like a new design - is it carbon? How much did ceramic headset bearings add to the cost?0
-
Lovely!!! Get on with it.
Mine's been slightly dismantled. I decided to go with SRAM Red 2013 (10 speed) just so that I get better front shifting. Of course, other components had to follow....
Got Speedplays for Xmas so they're on. Waiting on a new FSA bar and stem because I wanted another 1cm of length in the stem (and fancied a change). I'm OCD about stem and bars matching. Gone carbon as well.
With the addition of new SRAM Red, pedals etc I think I'm knocking on the doors of 7kg again. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Wow Wow that looks stunning , pls hurry up with the build and get some photos up as i too have been waiting on a Super Acciaio since mid Nov and wont be ready till Feb due to me wanting custom paintwork ...0 -
The sram red will be superb. Ive gone full dura ace 11sp for mine and have just ordered the 3T Ltd bars today along with the Ti speedplays. My biggest dilemma is if i can get away with pink bar tape.0

Pink tape? Definitely. Don't overdo it with tyres though! Fizik pink tape will match that RCS saddle really well.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Bender, on page 1 you said that's about 7 kgs. Are you sure? Pix on a scale pls...When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0

I'll try at some point.
It was a process of elimination really.
Old Canyon was circa 6.7-6.8kg. New frame comes in at 1700g. So that adds 700g to the 1000g Canyon. Fork differences were negligible.
Out went the FFWD wheels which were 1650g. In came the Fulcrums saving 100g.
Out went the SRAM Red Chainset at 760g and in came the new one at 609g. So 140g there.
Changed both the bars and stem to carbon and saved 200g. Speedplays shed another 100g or so.
So, purely on maths, 540g or so saved. So, in theory I'm 160g in deficit over what the Canyon weighed.
This is conjecture of course so I will get round to weighing it properly.
That said, using the rather unscientific, weight myself then hold it and weigh myself method it comes out at 6.9kg. If I put it vertically on the scales it also comes out at 6.9kg.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

You might have nailed it, but I had a steel frame weighing the same, with lighter wheels than yours, 200 grams saddle and the bike came at just over 8 Kg.
To be honest I think the majority of folks who claim to have sub 7 Kg bikes lie to themselves... some even remove the pedals, as if these were not part of the bike, for some reason.... even in 2014 you need to spend a hell of a lot of money to get there and with anything other than a very light carbon frame, it is virtually impossibleleft the forum March 20230
