Guys, sorry i know this is not necessarily the place to post this, but it seems logical. I am about to push the button on one of these frames, having been looking for a replacement frames for a while. It just seems like exceptional value! My question is around sizing. I am 5ft 9, however i have a short inside leg of 30 inch. I know its very hard to say with out seeing me on a bike, but how do these Scott sizes come up? My current Trek is 54cm i had a cube in the past that was 56! According to Westbrook cycles i am between medium and large (!) i dont like a bike to feel to big so i am guessing a medium is the right shout. but if the sizes come up small then i dont want to be in the other boat, so to speak.

    Thanks

    medium. (54cm)

    I'm 5'10" just under 32" inside leg.

I'd have thought a large way to big for you. You'd need a very short stem and have bugger all seatpost showing with a 56cm.

I'm 172cm with 76cm (30") inseam and my XS/49cm is on page 1. Centre BB to top of saddle measured along the seat tube is 68.7cm and I'm using a 120mm stem.

Small / 52cm would be fine for you, with less seatpost showing

A medium with a BB to top of seat tube measurement of 54cm would leave you 9cm of seatpost showing and there would be 2cm to little standover unless you tip the bike over when dismounting

+1 I'm the same size , I've got the 54 and as you can tell from my pics it's pretty well spot on for size.

The extra 2 inches of inside leg helps with aesthetic in this case. 30" inseam on a medium would leave about 9cm of seatpost showing.

52cm with a longer stem (110 or 120) would be a better ride for him

Guys thats great advice thanks. So is the opinion a 52cm with a longer stem or a 54cm with less seat post showing? My current bike is 54cm and i dont suffer with having to lean the bike to dismount (i dont think anyway) If i muster up the courage i will place an order for one this afternoon. Another question, is there any reason to select the High Module carbon frame over standard? I have had experience of HM carbon in my main sport, where there is a definate benefit. However in this instance the extra benefit comes at a much greater cost. So would i be better opting for a High Mod frame for the extra £50? What benefits will it give me in a bike? Is it stiffer and slightly lighter?

Hit the nail stiffer and lighter all for £50.

I'm 5'10", 32" inseam and also picked the 54 M. I collected mine direct from Westbrook has I live very close and looked over a 56" L CR1 they had built up in the shop and I was very happy with my choice of a M frame.

Thats the trouble for me. i am 5ft9 and a bit, but with a short inside leg. So i guess actually i am between a small and medium. I guess it makes more sense to get the smaller frame with a longer stem? but could just do with some advice from people who have owned the frame before making a decision i may regret!

Well I'm 5'6" and I find a 52cm fits me nicely. But then even if was taller it would still fit me as I have an 80mm stem and not a lot of seatpost showing (see picture in the 2nd post on this thread)

As per quotes itsnotarace is spot on with his recommendations and calculations.
I have a small (first one listed), am 5ft 7" with about a 29" inside leg, centre of bb to top of saddle via seat tube is 70cm and I think a touch more seatpost would look better.
The seat tube on these extends quite away above the top tube so they look better with more seatpost showing.
    I have a 90 cm stem.
So that said with you being a touch bigger than me a Small with an 11cm or 12cm stem would be spot on depending on saddle layback.

    Get a Small.

I'm 5'8 and a bit with 32" inseam and went medium (54cm) - mines on this thread somewhere (the one with Sram Force). I'm comfy with a 110mm stem. Not a huge amount of seatpost showing, but previous bike had a steeply sloped top tube so quite different to the CR1 which is more of a semi-compact frame. Important thing is I find this set up really comfy, and have managed to replicate the geometry recommended by a bike fit on my previous machine.

Just built mine up yesterday 11 spd ultegra. Still some tweaking to do, had to change tyre to 23mm as conti gp4000s 25mm were too wide on the archetype rims at the rear.

Feels good to me, noticeably better than the 6700 in terms of hood shape. Smooth and precise shifting. I am being careful not to cross the chain. Only done a couple of proving rides so am tweaking the set up still.

I purchased the frame to build a decent winter/wet bike when I ditched my Izalco, the wheels will be swapped for some Fulcrum 7s when the salt goes down on the roads. To be honest, it may be a little too good to use as a winter bike but I wanted something that still felt good rather than using an old hack.

It's up there no doubt, but Itsnotarace's is still the nicest.

However, there really are some awful looking CR1s being built as a result of the Westbrook deal. The Pro in this thread is probably the worst I've seen so far. Or maybe it's just that larger sized frames look ugly and ungainly to my eyes?
