I reckon this will be a fairly quiet stage. No GC shake ups.

It's really hard to get out on your bike when you wake up to England beating the Aussies and a Tour de France Stage!!

    Pffft...

(oh and a small hangover has nothing to do with it!!)

I tend to think it's in the others teams interest to keep it hard today too. They should want to keep the pressure on Froome

Cannondale are bound to do it anyway as it's ideal for Sagan. But I'm hopeful for a bit more.

Lot of scaremongering about Ventoux on top of yesterday's effort. Without that, Sky would be tortured to toast today unless they've been indulging in ludicrously complacent sandbagging.

Marino (SOJ) and Veilleux (EUC) have been caught by the peloton at 24km. There are now just five men ahead of the peloton. Voigt, Kadri, Vichot, Le Mevel and Bak have an advantage of 45".

Vichot was my tip for a French stage win before the tour... In form after his nationals win so i reckon he's looking good for today

Sagan has a good chance for a stage win on Tuesday, so this is not his last chance.

Also, is this the shortest tdf ever? Every stage seems really short.

Froome praying that Euskaltel and Lampre give up the chase (1 min to 18 man break) very soon. Apparently that was fastest first hour of tour: 47km/h

Chase given up. Big group up front, could be winner. How long until Canondale react?

I've done some more research. This is a list of the total length of previous tours. This year's is 3403.5km which is the shortest since 2004; however, there is not much in it.

95km to go and the gap is at 2'10". With such a large breakaway group (over 15) there won't be an intermediate sprint by the main field.

Today must be the day for the culmination of the great Cofidis master plan. every other team is totally sh@gged from efforts over the Tour so far, it's time to take the cling film off this team and use it.

Kirby not mincing his wordsa bout the "lady driver" who slam dunked Johnny into the barbed wire 2 years ago.

His defence will be that it was bound to happen by random chance that a stream of his words coincidentally makes a coherent thought.

Edit. Pisses me off with all the great cycling insight around these days, ES give us Cycling's Andy Townsend for a potential epic event.

    Greetings, just got in.

Question: in my cycling magazine, TdF special, it says Rabobank's team was renamed Blanco.
    S'not. It's Belkin.
    So what's that about, please?

They were called Blanco until they got a new sponsor as Rabobank didn't want their name on the jersey.
