:lol::lol: Did you type "wine, cheese, echelons" into google?:lol::lol:

Nearly - "cheese echelon" was the magic search string ;)

This is so frustrating with all this kicking off, working in an office where all forms of audio/video streaming are blocked...

OPQS leaving themselves open to late attacks on that climb if they're riding this hard, this early?

Tony Martin (OPQS) would of course have liked to see teammate Mark Cavendish win yesterday. “But it he or someone else from my team doesn't win, then for me the best alternative is when a German and especially a friend like Marcel wins. We are happy for each other's wins.”

I wonder if Tony's thinking about this now when he's asked to bury himself on the front for the next 40km!

Uh-oh. Movi mechanical. Will they wait?

Maybe Sky will help QS now?

Valverde punctures - swaps back wheel - teammates with him to chase back on

OPQS asked to knock it off a bit by Movistar while Valverde get's a wheel change.

This could effect the white jersey if Kwiatkowski has to do too much work for OPQS.

Does he wait for the 2nd group & hope for the best or risk no mans land for the rest of the race?

I concur. If it was a green points play then fair enough, but Cav should just back himself to beat Kittel.

With the number of teammates he has I think he wants to try getting back...

I have a meeting in 30 minutes. Luckily it will be followed by bier (not wine unfortunately) and cheese, but I'm going to miss the end of the stage.

    What's with the Movistar TTT?

Just popped to the loo and come back to see a mega-effort from Valverde.

by the look of the arrow formation at the front of the first group I don't think they're hanging about for Valverde.

He'll get back unless Sky start working. It's not for Belkin & OPQS to be playing with the GC battle. 80kms to go is a long way though.

So it looks like OPQS backed off a bit (given the VCD rider went off the front) but then Cav was at the front having a word - not happy?

Aha, that changes things a bit.

Looks like a long gap – Movistar have shattered!

And so they shouldn't. I'm all for waiting for a mechanical, but not if it means giving up a gap on a different rider.

From that panned shot it looked as if there was as much chance of the 2nd bunch catching Movistar as there was of Movistar getting back in with the first bunch.

There's a tail wind along this stretch so it should be easier for Movistar to get back on. Not looking good for them though.

agree, it's just Quintana (I think) rode up to OPQS riders tapping them, I'm guessing to ask them to ease up a tad.
