Was that Thomas in the group with Kittel?

FFS Argos-Shimano, why is Kittel totally alone?

Looking after Degenkolb as Kittel has had enough? There looked to be some Argos riders already off the back with Cavendish, so perhaps they're just no strong enough (as a team)?

Fair enough. He's got a rider with him now.

Was wondering that too, I only caught the flash of a Sky glove. I'd imagine it would be Thomas or Stannard after falling yesterday.

From Twitter - someone watching the Phil and Paul show
Paul Sherwen says that Blel Kadri has finished high up in Giro mountain stages in the past...he's never ridden the Giro

Kittel's "not quite the right shade of yellow shorts"..............

Nothing against Argos Shimano, but this does demonstrate why shorts should be black, and leaders' jerseys should be worn with black shorts.

FDJ on the front because Bouhanni is comfortable so they want to get rid of some other sprinters? Or because they missed the break and they're being told to show that they're in the race?!?
They've dropped Bouhanni. FDJ have bigger ambitions than just to show their face.

Froome doesn't seem to have too many team mates with him.

Is Sherwin on a commission every summer from different "Departments" to give us a running commentary of the history and culture of the area.

Yeah, but Kiryenka's there, and he counts for four or five.

I understand that, today's not a day for GC though is it?
Also keep forgetting it's Vichot in the champs jersey now!

All the commentators are. They get a big massive fact book and details of exactly when the choppers will be focusing on which visual masterpiece. Have a look at the on screen titles, they are all numbered.

Not according to received wisdom. Personally, I have been saying for a while that this is exactly the kind of day where the GC can be affected and that the contenders ought to be looking to take advantage of it.

If you keep the pace high it stops the sprinters getting back on, and its safer for the bunch if everyone is strung out on a descent.

    Indeed.

Interesting that Sky seem to have so few in what is now a fair sized peloton.

Edit: Ha, what do I know. Every time I look I see another Sky jersey.

Are there 5? Wondering if a few are being given a day off (relatively speaking), with G and Stannard recovering a little ahead of the TTT from their scrapes yesterday?

I know, I know. In fairness to me though, I'm pretty sure some weren't there at the top of the climb but got back on subsequently.

    Argh more issues for JC!
