"I don't think Alberto would have been super-chuffed losing 2:17 or whatever it was to me in a time trial."

"I've seen people having their two bobs worth saying that last year was a boring Tour, but that's their opinion and they love to voice it."

This was my favourite: "I've had a few sleep-ins cut short as well. In the last three weeks, with the Dauphiné I've been tested nine times – three or four of those have been out-of-competition. People said at the start of the year that there wasn't a hell of a lot of testing out-of-competition but we were still getting it at races. In the lead-up to the Tour, the stakes are just that much higher so the testers have been busy. Now, people will probably suggest 'oh, he's being target-tested,' but you know what? Stuff it. If you're doing the Tour, this is normal; there's a lot more testing."

Us titchy people can be quite gobby. :D

    1. He pretty much states there that Sky are boring and this year will be different because of the Spanish GT riders.
    2. He likely reads the forums a lot.
    3. Only one spelling mistake.
    4. I like these insights.
    5. When he says Chris rode without an SRM for one part of one race, A. it doesn`t matter but B. I presume the SRM here from the stage he refers to is not working?

It's the cycling press equivalent of sex for a tabloid or cellulite for The Daily Mail. Doping sells.

EDIT - And of course the more it gets talked about in cycling the more people think its only cycling that has a problem and then they get interested in the problem and thus further construct the dominant narrative, and on and on it goes...

Who fancies a look at that Col de Sarenne descent?

I've done the Sarenne - it was very gravelly with quite a few gutters across the road. Oh and unguarded drops.
If I recall correctly you descend and then have to climb again before descending to the valley floor. The middle climb wasn't appreciated by all of us. :-)

I guess it will be fine as the pack will have thinned out by the time they start it. I wonder if it will all go off on the first climb of the Alpe - or more likely the GC riders will stick together until 3k from the top the second time.

Inner Ring posted a vid of Jeremy Roy doing that descent. I can't search for the link right now, but I'm sure it's easily findable.

Apart from the drops that looks in better nick than most smaller UK country roads... anyone who has the bad luck to live in an area where councils like to "resurface" roads by scattering an inch of loose gravel on top of the tarmac (and then slap up dozens of 20mph speed limit signs, acknowledging how unsafe it is) will know what I'm talking about.

There should be bonus PTP points to the person who guesses at what point Thomas falls off on a descent.

There are 52 weeks in the year. 49 of them are not TdF weeks. 3 of them are. These 3 weeks start tomorrow.

    Bring it on.... :lol::lol:

Total number of Thomas falls caught on camera - 9

As soon as you gave away it was a poem it was a guarantee it was going to be awful.

What kind of people write poems like that? don't they realise the more inspirational they try to make it the more it sounds like complete and gutter guff. So much sh1te like this in TV advertising nowadays too.

I think SRM's should be banned for racing, fine in practice and training, but a race is a race and technology only makes it duller!
