Looks like this one is sticking as the gap is up to 2'15 now as well.

More rain forecast for today, wonder if other favourites will attack, just to try and get rid of Wiggins.

    It's a no brainer, isn't it.

Not sure either myself but think the risk might be worth it based on Wiggo's issues so far kind of opening the door to other GC contenders.

Has anyone calculated the times for the 2nd split yesterday? That was Wiggins' part of the course to shine.

There is a link within the S8 spoiler thread, basically Wiggins took just over a minute from Nibali, Scarponi, Evans in that section.

...but back to today and it might be a good day for the break by all accounts.

New break with about 1'30 looks like its going to stick containing - Felline, Chalapud, Pirazzi, Garate, Pantano, Mestre, Visconti, Belkov, Golas, Proni, Petrov, Ludvgisson
I wonder if it’s signficant that Garate is there? Not too far back in GC, team-mate of Gesink, also did an okay TT yesterday.

Who knows looks like a fair spread represented in the this break & if being brought back would make sense for Blanco if Gesink wanted to try to ride across, but they have a few riders in the top 30.

Yes because having a vagina means you are automatically a bad descender.

Thankfully Bradley realised he'd made a sexist wally of himself and tried to dig himself out of the hole.

Nothing wrong with admitting a weakness but doing it by making a gendered comment is not cool. Hopefully he can descend like a good descender rather that a bad descender for the rest of this Giro.

You would think so, wouldn't you? Unfortunately some people like to go out of their way to dig these holes that other people suddenly find themselves thrown into.

According to Quigley, Nibali is wearing his green, Cannondale gilet.

After all the bloke was making a 'joke' not a statement. It's common in comedy - I could real off a whole host of female comedian names who base 75% of their material on slagging men off.

Yes I give him a pass for realising what he'd said was sexist but a shame that he felt it OK to say it in the first place and that it is still a 'common turn of phrase'.

I don't disagree with you, but I'm wondering (so serious question) whether you'd find it acceptable had Wiggins said:
    "I descended like a big girl’s blouse"

(for those who don't know the expression, it's heard in northern England, so Wiggins should have come across it where he lives)

Belkov rides up to Pirazzi, but Chalapud who were away after the KOM but Pirazzi struggling to keep up and is a little way behind them now

Edit: all 3 are together now as they approach the Cat 1 climb

My missus descends like a Bradley Wiggins, but then she's allowed because she's a girl. :)

One of the purposes of comedy is to challenge and subvert dominant power structures and 'common truths'. Comedy is a tool of the oppressed. That is why comedians challenge all manner of stereotypes, be they racial, religious, class or gendered. Wiggins wasn't challenging stereotypes here, he was reaffirming them. There is a difference between using life experiences in comedy about specific people you have experienced in your life and making a statement that draws parallels between say your own weakness and an entire gender. That is not cool. Some women may also do that, and that is also not cool, neither is it when men do it. Trying to suggest that what Wiggins said was not sexist just because some women are also sexist is just whataboutery.

And I could name a whole host who only ever go on about being fat or eating cake.

Sadly I can only name about half a dozen who are laugh out loud funny.

The SOLE purpose of comedy is to make people laugh. What Wiggans said was neither offensive or funny, it was using a very common turn turn of phrase to elaborate / show he was aware of his failings. Not worth getting your g-string in a twist about.
