Never named a car or motorbike before but my Colnago has a sticker on it that says Julie. Julie was my partner of 25 years who passed away in November 2011. Without her hard work and support I wouldn't have had any big boys toys!! (Must be going soft in my old age).

Definitely the most worthy name reasoning so far. Makes my potential name choice of "Rhianna" sound a little pathetic.

I used to have a bike called Gavin, don't know why, just sort of fitted. Gavin has now been turned into a piece of art. When I emigrated I gave a few old frames to a colleague who makes art out of old steel bikes. I've often meant to see what he made Gavin into. I had a really nice F W Evans light weight tourer, which I now wish I’d kept, could be a coffee table now for all I know.

My commuting bike is occasionally called Claude, because it cost a lot of Monet, it is also based on a Claud Butler (dalesman?) frame. The single speed is called Francesco, because it is a Moser.

I have 5 bikes and I call them all Keith !!!!!!

Interesting name choice pastey_boy. Why Keith???
Keith is taken from a trio of awesome names, the others being Trevor and Clive. All three are at the very top of name awesomeness but Keith just shades it for the ultimate name ever , but please bear in mind that the above view is my opinion and others may chose Trevor or indeed Clive.

I used to have a rowing boat called Clive. I don't name my bikes though.

My S1 was called Lee after Maggie Gyllenhaal's character in Secretary; every time I rode her she begged to be thrashed.

None of the current stable have names other than Cyclocross, good bike, commuter, fixed, hack, etc.

Whitney is my second bike. Had an MTB for 2 years and then moved over to road. Whitney is my B'Twin Triban 7 and we are in love! Don't care if any one calls that sick or worse. I love cycling and I love my bike hence the name and sex. So you are not alone to name your bike. Check out the decal I got done for her -

Ha ha, I've had one bike for almost two years and never named it, but i've just bought a second bike so my first thought was I need names for them now. Bikes have got to be females - all machines are female!! Ask Eddie Stobart!

So my Giant MTB has become Gina T (I'll let you work that out... ) still working on a name for my new Road Bike though....
"I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated"
  • Never thought about it before so i asked the bike. Bike said, "Can't you ****ing read?" I did and therefore i take it his name is Claud. Come on folk's, how many of you seriously thought about this until the question was asked...

My hybrid is called Alex as my wife hates the name and so I wasn't allowed to use it for any of our children.

My Italian mistress is called Gabriella (that's my Bianchi, not my real Italian mistress).

My mate calls his Bianchi Edoardo. I think he has issues regarding his sexuality. Bikes should be girls.
    Pride and joy: Bianchi Sempre

Thanks for that. Just the kind of reply a new bikeradar member wants to hear. Nothing wrong with a bit of fun. Must be great to be you.

It just made me laugh, I couldn't help it. :D
