Look like they are keeping out of trouble rather than really dropping the hammer.

Think they might be happy to see a nobody take the stage win.

Only thing I could think was not bothered about breakaway rider but brining the tempo up to control the peloton. Bit pointless if they shell out GC riders support if the same GC guys just sit on their train.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Sky setting up for Wiggo to crest the summit and surf Uran's mullet to some time bosoms. And they might as well try to discourage heroics from GC guys.

Very wet - worth keeping everyone at the front and safer?

Uran now joined the charge. Go Sylvain.

Katusha had let the pace drop, note the ease with which Sylvain got his lead. Sky want to make it less likely that anyone punches off the front so far out from the finish (?)

I guess they're preventing any attacks that would leave them needing to chase on wet roads. They'd be happy enough if there were riders in front to sweep up the boners, but there's only one guy (two more just leaped).

Froome is much worse with this.

Cant see how they are preventing it though, if they are up the front and stringing out some of the weaker riders they are giving a lift to other GC contenders who can attack later on

If they ride at a decent pace then its difficult to get off the front and make the attack stick. If they keep the pace high an attacker generally cant sustain the extra effort to keep away and they reel them in.

Di Luca going for one last shot at glory before being outed as the "former GT winner busted for passport violations" as per the secret pro column today? (Would be busted again in his case....)

Yeap, watched the Sky train shell out weaker riders & still the strong riders that were able to attack did. Seem to recall someone saying something about the sky team riding at Wiggo's pace as he can't do the stinging attack speeds but prefers to diesel it at a steady pace, unless I'm wrong & your saying that every stage with the Sky train on the front did not result in someone attacking off the font or even today's stage?
