Todays profile looks like another fast run into the end
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Plus another finish line video being uploaded by Maggy.

    Edit: link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvBhnyqF ... e=youtu.be

Just finished watching it & final 1km comes after a little climb (poss a false flat hard to tell from the bike cam) and then pretty straight & Maggy commenting he was going 78KPH.

Pleased for Greipel - always comes across as a very decent guy, and he was clearly quite emotional yesterday.
He's grown on me with his rides for the team in the Classics this year. Lots of respect earned.
I can agree with that. !

Sorry for the language but blooming heck Greipel just monstered that sprint and left everyone behind, went from 300M out and just blew everyone away.

Didn't catch the stage. Just chipping in to say what a fantastic photo this is of a guy who's clearly getting the best out of himself while showing every sign of being a decent human being.

Any love out there for Stage 5?

Just caught the last 3km via Steephill. Very impressive win by Greipel (again) but the Lotto train/ leadout looked very well organised to boot. Not too phased by the need to catch up with a small breakaway towards the end or Pozzato's late attack.

Watched it live was a bit dull in that that it was on wide roads and pretty well described as rolling and relatively straight.

The wind was a factor (apparently) in making 3 main groups with a breakaway, the leaders jersey group and pretty much everyone else in the peloton behind.

The breakaway was quite entertaining as they kept on attaching each other & when they weren't they were just looking at each other, so quite good for about 20 minutes of fun.

Think quite a few teams were practicing their trains but lotto did look quite good & was an early suggestion that they might be working for Hansen being Anzac day and all that however Greipel just looked like he was in a league of his own in that sprint just pulled out from about 4th wheel (I think) and went on his own past everyone like they were on a club run.

It would be if the last 7 kms weren't all uphill ;)

Big old sprint to get to that roundabout first though.

    400M hardly a massive climb

Huh? It's from sea level. 400 elevation meters is a big climb, at least completely ruling out a bunch sprint.

And as you can see it is all into bits and pieces and only the climbers left at the front in a small group of 10 or so. Seeldraayers dropped. Sayer riding away...

This Sayar bloke is a bit interesting, still in the big ring as well..... Blood values?

Looks pretty hilly, but behind the front rider there is a bunch of riders. If Saya can stay away will be good ride but looks to flatten out a bit.

He's just sat down and thumbs up not looking tired at all, have to say to ride off the front like that was pretty good even more so when you look at the leg speed he looked like he was in slow-mo!

Still not as impressive as Grabovski though.

But it's not a great climbing field, and I don't know anything about this guy. Maybe he's a phenom. Maybe low cadence is the future. Bluh.

At least the sport has improved so much that the obvious stand out.

The gears he used on that ascent, haha.
  • The Eurosport commentary was certainly very interesting! I hope they are wrong, but that performance does look a tiny bit suspicious.

That was an uncomfortable listen. Given the happenings last year in this race, a raised eyebrow is fair enough. But Harmon and Maggie wouldn't let it lie and trolled the guy all the way to the line. :x
