Middle of the boro, drink in the King Bill very occasionally more on Tuesdays when Ian and Shane had it.
Never seem to quite get over as far as Sowerby despite my best intentions, keep getting seduced by the thought of coffee in HB when I get to the top of the edge0 -
Yeh it's a shame they left, that said the brewery we're taking the piss with rent.
You've probably seen us knocking about there, I live in the estate just before the pub.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -

Sorry for the threadnomancy, but if any of you guys cycle around Urmston/Altrincham/Dunham etc, this will be of interest:

Basically, a landowner is trying to stop members of the public walking/cycling/riding down a half-mile or so section of Birch Road in Carrington. It's a traffic-free private road that's been used by everyone for at least 40 years. It is by far the safest way to get from Urmston to Altrincham as the alternatives are a very busy and narrow country lane populated by fast cars and lorries, and a very busy and slightly wider industrial estate lane populated by the same.
We've kicked up a real stink, everyone is royally pissed off by this, and we're looking to resolve the situation either by formal agreement (unbelievably, one already exists but the landowner has conveniently forgotten about it), or by turning it into a right of way. Trafford Council are involved, and Carrington Parish Council are also taking a lead.
If anyone here uses it, please could you contact Carrington Parish Council, or Trafford Council's rights of way office. If we lose this route, people will either stop cycling or risk their lives on two roads that are completely unsuited to cycling.0
