    Kristoff 13.6s behind Chava

Come of Chavanel, I just hope he has long overshoes on...

Just about to catch his minute man.

Nice long, lingering camera shot of the tattoo on the ramp. You'da loved it.

Knew I should have put the Chavanel avatar on today then switched to Boonen for animating Flanders.

Good win for Chavanel, plus puts the weekend action up in the air somewhat
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Doesn't take away from it though IMHO. The rides get used to the weather (though this could change) close enough to the race & gives them a chance to hone their form as close as possible to the race. Plus for fans think the format of final day of stage & TT is a good one and makes for an interesting race to watch.

I really enjoyed it. Is it just me or does cav seem unhappy with his new team? I know he can usually be a grump, but I get the feeling something is not right. Has this been mentioned before?

Cav has expressed much happiness with his team on a few occasions. He is also happy with his win tally this year although it could have been 1-3 races better.

I didn't get the impression he was unhappy with his team quite the opposite compared to where he was last year (nothing against the team but not an ideal set up for him) Just think he is concentrating on later on in the year and building his form right now & gets a little pee'd off with press questions at times especially when some questions are a bit dumb

He may well be. He was on my radar because he's been riding for my local team, Bretagne-Schuler, for the last couple of years.

It'll be interesting to see how he progresses in the world tour. He definitely has potential. He won the world junior road race in 2008 in a French team that included Thibaut Pinot and Romain Bardet. He won by attacking out of a bunch that included Peter Sagan (who is a year older than Johan), Michal Kwiatovski and Anton Vorobyev who finished second in the time trial today. He was also junior European road race champion the same year, again beating a field that included Sagan. As he showed today, he's not bad at the time trial either having been national champion at the espoirs level in 2011 and 2012.

There's an excellent episode of the BBC series "Coast" that goes through Koksijde. That tram is the longest single track track tramway in (I think) the world

Thanks for the info on Le Bon DeadCalm. Sounds like he could be a dark horse in some races. Will keep an eye out.

FF, you're welcome. Hopefully he'll have a more successful career than the previous Breton junior world champion, Arnaud Gérard who won the title in 2002 and has just moved in the opposite direction to Bretagne- Séché Environnement after a fairly undistinguished spell with FDJ.

The lad the locals seem to be really excited about though is Olivier Le Gac, junior world champion in 2010 (Bretons do have a habit of winning the thing) although he's only 19 and is probably still a couple of years away from the pro tour.
