OPQS are going to have to do more than win De Panne to rescue their classics season.

Careful now. Frenchie doesn't like that sort of talk.

    Looks good for Chavanel....
    You sure
    6. Niki TERPSTRA, Omega Pharma-Quick Step, at :10

    I thought Niki could TT.
Chavanel took 18 seconds out of Terpstra in the TT last year.

The times in my quotes were the only ones ES showed on their graphic. No idea what everyone else was on.
Or even if there are any other TTers in the field

Anyone else think Cav might surprise a few people in the TT?

Think this is probably a bit long for him. As you'd expect, he's better in the short sharp prologue TTs where it's all about bike handling and sprinting out of corners.

Sagan could have won this if he'd stayed.

    Tough 3 weeks ahead though.

I think Cav needs to be able to see a finish line and have several other world class sprinters breathing down the back of his neck to perform at his best.

He's won short prologues before, including at Romandie. Add in his track palmares and his TTT performances and its clear that he's not quite the one trick pony that some make out.

He won't do anything today though, may not even ride it.

    Wishful thinking.

For some reason I thought it was quite a bit shorter than it actually is. D'Oh.

It's probably a bit too long for such a short race, but then you mess with such a historic format at your peril.

    You think so?

Let's assume Chavanel is the man and would have started for talk sake 15s down*. Do you think Sagan couldn't hold him off on the TT?

*Obviously I'm assuming yesterday would have played out differently and Sagan would have finished in the bonus seconds.

I assumed you were talking of the TT in and of itself rather than the GC.

Sagan beat Cancellara in the 7.3Km TdS prologue last year, albeit that had a climb in the middle. With some bonus seconds in the sprints he'd have had a chance of beating Chavanel I think

As Frenchie says though, it's wishful thinking as he's not here. He has bigger fish to fry.

That may reflect Terpstra finish time so he should move up when Kristoff finishes.....I think....
