FWIW the mighty Stannard will be joined on Sunday by the two hard men of Belarus, Siutsou and Kiryienka. The 3 of them could probably be towing an ox each and they wouldnt notice - seriously hard gregarios for EBH. No idea whether it'll make a shred of difference when it comes down to it, of course.0

Yep, you could be right. Perhaps a new marginal gain in the way of a Sagan-free drafting zone will need to be developed0 -
Don't see why Sky are under any obligation to ride this one at all. I think they could keep a straight face offering "after-yous" to Cannondale and OPQS, not to mention Astana or the Aussie wheelsuckers. Stannard or Kiryienka could well make the final group covering the inevitable Moser break....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

The San Remo roads? They are, on the whole, beautifully surfaced. There's a few rough bits on the Cipressa descent but that's about as bad as it gets.0 -

Ah, right! My misunderstanding. Thanks for clearing that up.0

No team will recce MSR anywhere near the actual race.
I'll wait till someone asks why to explain.0 -
Latest weather forecast suggests a cool 8 degrees and rain at the finish.0

@andyp - was just replying to the post before (on the earlier page) regarding the Sky Classics training camp & couldn't be bothered with quoting that & the other comment from who ever it was who said the roads were pretty poor around the sky training area.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -

Contador is the Greatest0 -
I'd like Chavanel and Offredo to attack together and Offredo to take the win.
Add to that Voeckler, Amador and Geraint ThomasContador is the Greatest0 -
Slippery when wet: Poggio descent koendekort-Cam - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH6sjpX-t5U
[Power meter prominent in video btw]
If it's wet, you've got to fancy Nibali attacking over the the Poggio with Sagan and Cancellara bridging on descent. Will be fun to see Nibs and Chinny sitting on Sagan, getting a free ride. Or does Nibali owe Sagan one for TA St. 6?
As for EBH, he made the front group going up the Poggio last year despite losing some of his team-mates being on Cav-sitting duties. With a few more Gregarios around he may have stayed with Cancellara....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
Why is this on a Sunday when virtually every other Italian one dayer is on the Saturday.0

Less traffic on a Sunday so less disruption caused by the race. RCS making same change to Lombardia. Also planning for amateur cycling events to be held on the Sats before both races from next year onwards.0 -

Ah, I see. I thought it was usually on a Saturday.0

so move it to a Sunday to create less disruption, then add another event on the Saturday too?
