  • Come on Scarponi. ABout time someone was able to drop a domestique. VERY surprising that this domestique on the front who has been on the front end the whole climb has shutdown every attack so far with ease. Makes no sense.

If you think he's cheating just say so.

Favourites now together with around 2km to go. Should see some individual attacks from here.

Ahem. Pitbull goes. He has no need to. Guess what type of riders do that?

Has Porte, Scapo, Rien, Quintana and some
    Contador is the Greatest
  • He's riding like an idiot now though.

    Pitbull attacks again. Classy.

Now sits up and makes the others work.

    Toying with them.

Menchov goes. Lots of dopers with points to prove.

Talansky forced to work and not liking it.

Porte has absolutely done him here.

    Patience pays off.

Talansky closing gaps on Diego Ulysees? Why?!

  • Jebus, when he has to ride he stops!

Talansky lost his head completely in the last 5km.

    Well done Porte.

Well done Denis for showing you're still alive.

The rest of you played that like muppets.

Great work by Porte, happy for him. If he had legs that good he should go with 3km to go though.

Loving Talansky. Great viewing. Know he is going to provide lots of excitement in years to come.

Maybe he didn't have the legs to go at 3km?

Didn't need to go at 3km. Talansky was killing himself at the point. Why put a stop to it? TBF to Talansky he did have to try that to overcome TT deficit.

Great work by Porte, picked his time to attack and made it stick.
You live and learn. At any rate, you live
  • Talansky got taken to school there. Started the major attacking among the top favourites, let the gap go with Porte and then was left to do what he could to close it by his more experienced competitors. I think he'll definitely learn from that.

    Top 5 results:
    1. Richie Porte (Australia, SKY)
    2. Denis Menchov (Russia, KAT) 26 secs behind
    3. Andrew Talansky (U.S., GRS) 33 secs behind
    4. Tejay Van Garderen (U.S., BMC) same time
    5. Diego Ulissi (Italy, LAM) same time

Not sure of the overall picture as yet.

It was actually nice to see the leader give it something rather than just sit in and defend - wise or not.

It was damn boring until Talansky went. Great from that point onwards. Porte very measured until he went - no show boating or 'looks'. Well ridden.
