Supposedly doped up Sky wunderkid loses time shocker - looked a bit knackered at the end I thought. Nibali once again flattered to deceive. Where has JRod been this season before that stage? Bertie once more consistently excellent, but not the best.
    .

J-Rod's been busy winning the only other proper mountain top finish in Oman :P
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

But dropping loads of time elsewhere hasn't he? Not looking like 2012s GC material unless I've missed something...

Bit difficult to be motivated in putting in performances for your team with all the mess Katusha have been in. Been distracted trying to find alternative employers.

That's a good point. He was really (relatively) crap in Argentina whilst it was looking very bad for Katusha. So yeah, ignore me..

I noticed him being off in San Luis and was a little concerned also, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. He has been pretty consistent over the years.

This race is the best quality field beside the Tour de France that I've ever seen put together. Paris-Nice: there's nobody there. Everybody's here: the best sprinters, the best GC guys in the world, this is a Tour de France quality field.

Amazing how some of the traditional races are falling out of fashion. I suppose it is down to who is preparing for what and when. I guess all the main Tour GC contenders were at T-A? some Giro contenders at P-N such as Menchov?

I've just caught up with today's stage. That was quite an exciting final 5k I must say. :D

Did Froome think Kreuziger was Contador when they went for the intermediate sprint points? It seems to me that Kreuziger and Contador tried to pull a one two on Froome and it sort of worked, forcing Froome to go early for the sprint points and nearly elbowing Kreuziger out of the way like a desperate teenager at a Primark sale thinking he was Contador. There seemed to be a moment of realisation by Froome that it wasn't Contador which then enabled Contador to sneak past to pick up the intermediate sprint.

Anyway Cav's looking very skinny in that photo with Kwiatowski.

Yeah, I thought that's what happened with Froome...was quite funny....

Lack of composure when things don't go to Plan. I was really hoping they would continue going and see how flustered Froome would be without his Colombian's pacing him.

CQ's head to head in the TT:

Nibs vs Froome: 7 to 6
Nibs vs Contador: 3 to 10
Froome vs Contador: 2 to 1

Given the TT is only 9km I doubt there will be many changes in GC.

What has been missed is if Sky win both PN and TA that's 200 UCI points. Enough to secure the lead car in the classics

He's only 21 and in his first World Tour race. Have some patience.

Is that why they sent the classics team to Tenerife then? Send the classics squad to Tenerife to train and use your GC squads to get you lead car for the classics...

I'm sure there's some master logistics-tactician on the Sky pay roll dreaming up scenarios like this, probably some ex-Chess grand master or something. Shame they also can't help them with actual race tactics for the classics but still...

Good lord that was painful. Henao putting on the hurt was fantastic.

    Shame for Kwiatkowski.

    Mikkel Condé v2.0 ‏@mrconde
Dario Cataldo just took 1 min of Cunego's gap within the final km of the climb. He's a beast on a bike these days.

Seems to me that Sky's domestiques are stronger than some of the best riders in the World these days.

You're an idiot. Cataldo is an excellent climber, and Cunego had been in the break all day.

That you know nothing about Cataldo isn't a surprise.

^This. Also FF if you can bring yourself to go to the same Team Sky website where you grap some of Scott Mitchell's photos sometimes, and read their race reports for the week, Dombrowski's been doing a shedload of work for the team before the TV coverage starts. Did yesterday and again today.

^This. Again. This is also the same Cataldo who beat De Gendt to win a MTF stage of last year's Vuelta - road ramped up to 16%-24% in places in the last few kms.

Here you go, FF, you can read about it here

Yeah, good photos. I don't really care if he is improving his leg strength by pulling on the front in the early stages which I know he is doing. I want to see him in the mountains. But then I am a fan and want to be entertained although I know he is being built into something special for years to come.

Keep your insults at bay. You are embarrassing yourself with your lack of control.

Thanks for trying to educate me but I know who Cataldo is and I also know that however decent a climber he is he is no big hitter. His lack of results speak for themselves.

If Cataldo is an 'excellent' climber, not sure what adjective would you give to the many, many riders who can climb better than him

Froome looking very ripped early season. Not sure he can budge much more weight before the Tour.

“I attacked this year at the point they dropped me last year! Winning today is very important to me. I’ve won here before, and I feel the Tirreno-Adriatico very deeply. This year, the strongest riders in the world are here, so winning is good for the team and for my head.”
