Been looking forward to this race. The cast is amazing and the parcours always offers a treat. The Italians are always in form early season so the racing is great.

Nibali is very keen to defend his win last year and has worked very hard on his TT with Specialized which he hopes will help a lot (although distance is only 9km for ITT). Froome faces off against Contador again. Not sure if Froome is there for the win but I know Contador is, especially as he has never raced here before.

This race is becoming increasingly good value. I love Paris-Nice, but I think they might need to get a bit more adventurous with their route selections if they are to avoid Tirreno trumping them again.

I have a feeling Contador will have his revenge on Froome here.

Credit where it is due. Too many people in life just point out the negatives and never praise. I'm sure you see this fairly often at work.

This race could be amazing or really frustrating but either way there's bound to great racing involved.

I don't see a great difference between the two routes other than TA has a TTT and PN has a mountain TT.

I suspect TA has the better startlist because RCS are willing to share TV revenue with teams and ASO are not.

Hats off to RCS if revenue sharing "bought' this drop-dead gorgeous rider roster. It seems to be working for them so far.

Tirreno tends to throw in some smaller roads and more interesting finishes in a similar fashion to the Giro. According to LL's blog, stage 5 finishes on a climb with 19% sections, and stage 6 lacks big climbs but looks like a real leg bender, climbing and descending all day.

I also think the short prologue at PN was a bit of a waste of time and less of a spectacle than the TTT at TA. A race that has time bonuses doesn't really need a short prologue to introduce gaps into the GC in the first few days.

I love them both, at the moment RCS seem to be doing a better job of promoting TA than ASO are with PN, which could well be to do with revenue sharing as you say, but there is a danger than TA will become the de facto choice of all the big hitters, when in the past they both attracted their share of big names.

Out of luck with heavy rain for the TTT: compromised spectacle. Big Magnus with some insight on TTTs in the rain on Eurosport.

    No, he always does.

Sky 25s down on QS. Chance for Cadel & Contador to take a handful.

Both teams have some decent Rouleur/TTers, so should be possible.

Sky never seem to be as good in the TTTs as you'd expect, though this squad is more climbing heavy than normal, what with all the classics guys off in Tenerife.
