(Apparently though he was boffing Mila Kunis, if Andy has himself a girl of that quality I can fully see why he can't be bothered with cycling!)

Dunno when AS' contract ends but he looks like he needs to forget being a pro for a bit ...

An ideal situation would be to annul his current contract, take a break and after a bit agree to join Garmin who seem capable of offering a shoulder to lean on and an enjoyable atmosphere ... If he agrees his 'out' properly he could train sans kit with the new team later in the year to get used to the bike/team ...

Becca seems like a tit and Schleck might want the cash so likely none of that could happen ...

Don't know really as there have been other young riders who showed promise, couldn't handle the pressure and are now in lower level teams.

I don't think its helping him as he showed so much talent (except in TT's possibly) and perhaps the recent comments at team and national level have added to the pressure.

Wish he could just take a little time off the bike, get some good training in and come back. But thats only going to happen if he gets the support of his team/national team.

I'd like to see him a Garmin, think it would be a better fit for him & they might be able to protect/support him a bit in the PR department. Having said that if he gets back to where he was a few years ago with results he won't need any PR as the results would speak for themselves.

Given how the good doctor managed to sort out Wiggins and Vicky P's chimps, you have to say he needs to go to Sky....

He'll be back. I can't see it happening in time for the Tour this year, let alone the Ardennes, bu maybe at the tail end of the year.

Yes you do know - I'll play nicely though, I think it would be a disaster for him if he went to Sky. He would get good things from Doc SP but don't think the scientific approach to the team and tactics would work for him. At least at Garmin they appear to have a more tree hugging style which might support him.

As a compromise maybe buy the book for the kindle so he can read it on a his mini break & then see how he gets on upon his return. Then consider a move at that point.

Sky - not a good team for him, nor can I see why they'd want him, they're hardly short of GC talent.

Garmin - could never afford him. Bet he's on a packet. Would he sacrifice money for career resurrection?

Be interesting what happens at the Shack on the sponsorship front though. Arent RadioShack pulling out end of this year? And Becca has problems all of his own.

And we havent even mentioned the Frank factor...
  • I don't think he's done, I just think he's a young bloke who's never failed at anything before. He needs to find his own way through it and I'm sure he will.

You don't get a sniff of a professional contract in cycling without some level of mental toughness.

The point about Weylandt above was one I hadn't considered.

Fair point as I hadn't really taken that into account just mean the team set up would suit him.

As for Frank I think it might do him some good to be away from his brother for a while, perhaps let him grow and shine on his own. I'm not sure though if it would benefit him or not as when they are both fit and working together sometimes they are really good and others their tactics are pants

Whoever hires him should spend 10% of his wages hiring Bobby Julich to coach him

Maybe Bobby J together with a really good psychologist could do wonders for him

Any pictures I've seen have him struggling on his own.

You'd think he'd have a domestique/ Bernie Eisel type with him.

Eisel was allocated to Cav to get him over the mountains so that he was there to win the sprint the next day. The way Andy is at the moment it would simply be a waste of a good team mate, throwing good money after bad, if you like.

Plus a different personal manager who can perhaps offer him some protection & take a bit of the heat off him.

Used to be a fan of Schleck, but since 2011 he has been a character in trouble his whinging with brother Frank in the 2011 TdF was embarrasing. You get the feeling he needs a good coach who needs to give him a kick up the arse and a good team.

I don't think he does need a kick up the arse TBH. He reminds me of Cadel in that it was said that he would never win a GT & that he needed to feel the full support of the team rather than actually having the full support of the team.

He is quite young & lived a sheltered life thus far. Plus think he has had his kick up the arse from his national body and its clearly done nothing for him, that with the press bearing down on him.

    Maybe he needs Riis?
  • Not sure what the answer is with Schleck. I do hope he comes back to racing at the top level, but if he doesn't, I think he would be better off giving up and going fishing with his brother. Don't want to see him hanging on at the back of the bunch for the rest of his career.

Think he's damned if does and damned if he doesn't really. Maybe better off on a training camp for 4 weeks & see what happens fitness wise at the end of it.

He's still a kid really and confidence only follows success so he's stuck in that downward cycle of needing a win to be motived.

Maybe the team should get Jens to look after him? They could both go geocaching together or something.

I could see why a journalist would name someone to the public, but a politician? What a d'ick.

    lost cause, Andy is btw.
