Coming soon to a Chav near you.

    Found a similar one here....

    https://www.aliexpress.com/store/produc ... 70943.html

because I wanted to find out that it weighed 14.5Kg

God that's awful. The wheel logos are making a feeble attempt at a Zipp look?

Read the reviews! It's a long while since I actually laughed out loud.

  • A guy at my work actually had one, he was quite proud of it as well. I can vouch it did weigh about the same as a small car.

To confirm he had the red one and it did burn your eyes.

    Interesting looking crack

It looks almost like it has been hacksawed. I have cracked a few frames but never seen one so perfectly square across the tube shaft.Mine have been spiral in mid-shaft or right at the joint.
and I cannot imagine paying 100gbp for it.

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the Classic/Retro forum, this thread won. The new Choppers are an abomination, and an insult to any child of the 70's who had one

Mine had the gear lever on the cross bar, and a better shaped chrome handlebar. That square cornered handlebar stem looks a little dangerous if something hit the corners.

Wasn't the gear change was in the middle of the crossbar one of the features that made the original a bit hazardous?

The eatly ones, like mine, had a longer seat ( the seat stays went straight up from the axle), a two position handlebar, and a proper gear knob (I think later models had a T bar).

My most endearing memories of Choppers were 2 incidents. One when descending down a rough path and the steering shot sideways left and I shot right hands grazed and dust under my bottom lip.
Fast forward 5 years and I swapped my 'racing' bike (3 Speed Puch with drop handlebars) with a mate and we headed off up this hill and down this hill. Although not long, it's one of the steepest in the area starting at 20% and then increasing to 25%. I think I hit 30 in my silly attempt to keep up before I hit a stone and the bike lurched from left to right a few times before I was deposited at the start of the steepest bit. It may have not been 30 but it sure felt like it.
I slid 20 feet or so. The result was skin off the outside of both arms and legs, I scraped my left eyebrow off and broke the left kneecap. Quite a mess. I literally crawled to the toilet for the next week and to this day, sometimes I get knee pain. The broken knee cap wasn't spotted as they were more concerned with the head injury and concussion. I also have 2 elongated oval patches on the left and right arm where there are no freckles.
If they had made the chopper with a bigger front wheel, it may have been a better bike. I have heard of so many stories about the Chopper, ctrashes and it's instability.

I don't really understand the nostalgia for such an obviously terrible bike. Heavy, poor handling, serious danger of ruining your prospects. Makes you wonder how bad everything else was for people to remember the Chopper as a highlight.

It'll be a very light frame when all the rust has been removed.

Yep, no need to drill any holes in it to lighten it up.
