    Learning to play the drums.
By any measure, my natural talent has yet to rear its ugly head.
However, the mere fact I am not totally incompetent and can clearly demonstrate progress is very satisfying.

Well done. I had one lesson from a friend/teacher, and though I'm good at rhythm, I found the coordination required between four limbs challenging. But I'm even worse at violin and guitar.

It's just as well I'm much better at tooting my trumpet.
Challenging is definitely an appropriate word.

I find you can pick up a basic rhythm ok. But the moment you have to engage your brain to change from that rhythm, everything goes to pot very quickly. I suspect being unconsciously capable is very much key.

It’s definitely not easy. I’d love to play keyboard or guitar but my finger dexterity is dreadful.

Decided hitting things may be more appropriate.

Seeing a swan on its newly built nest on water's edge right by the cyclepath / road. Head tucked down, looked asleep this morning, head up and watchful this pm.

The House martins arrived today full of chitter chatter and then flew around catching the excellent batch of midges which kicked their arrival off with a good bellyful.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I would see a buzzard out on my lunchtime dog walk. I hadn’t seen it for a while and was fearing the worst for it but yesterday I saw it again. To make the sighting even better, he was getting hassled by an individual crow that didn’t seem to understand that mobbing requires a mob. After a minute or so the buzzard got fed up and decided to fight back giving the crow a bit of a kicking before it chose to retreat.

I had never seen a Hen Harrier until one day, I saw this bird of prey in the distance who was going hell for leather attacking numerous crows. The crows did not form a mob in the face of the onslaught as the Hen Harrier went at them with speed and amazing agility.

I talked to a local twitter describing the birds markings and colour and he confirmed it was a Hen Harrier. They don't list the bird as being resident here locally as there were 2 Germans arrested some 10 years ago for collecting eggs on behalf of some Arab.

What cheers me up just now is reading twitter in it's intended form.

I am not sure. You have no chance.

Getting my ears expertly hoovered and being able to hear high frequencies again. Though it annoys me that they wax up regularly, and that I had to pay for the treatment, now that the GP surgery doesn't do it. But then it cheers me up that hoovering is less risky than syringing.

Timing my ride into work this afternoon just right... reckoned I had 10 minutes in between biblical downpours, and just about got away with it (in the blue bit in the middle).

Probably just as well I didn't have to cycle through Tipton St John though...

    Whoosh!

I have no idea what I’m looking at beyond a literal interpretation.

Now somebody has liked it which suggests there is something to get.

    Explanation please?

Doppler effect meme. The vehicle sound coming towards you and how it changes sound as it passes you. Because sound can’t be accurately shown in an image, it uses the car changing colour to replicate the effect.

The car changing colour is the blue shift / red shift phenomenon which is the doppler effect in light. Noticeable in stars, mostly.

Congratulations, can I ask what age?

My target is 62 but I have a fear that my target retirement date is always on a 5 year horizon.
