Was genuinely surprised with mine. In a couple of years of infrequent mowing, it's gone from rough meadow to something that really looks like a lawn. And no, I'm not going back to Poldarking with a scythe.pblakeney said:
Ditto on the lawn mower.briantrumpet said:morstar said:My Worx, battery powered pressure washer.
I had hoped it would be a full replacement for a plug in pressure washer which ultimately it didn’t really prove to be. However, it’s otherwise brilliant for doing quick jobs without any of the faff associated with a plug in jobby.
Grab washer, attach hose, go. Bike cleaned (yes I go there) bish bash bosh. Unplug hose, done.
Can also run off free standing water supply. Intend to get water carrier to take to trail centres to do a quick wash before loading bike in car.
Looks useful.
Ditto my battery-powered rotary mower, roughly the same sort of £ as your pressure washer, came with two batteries, which, apart from the first time I used it to hack down 3ft grass, is more than enough, and it's transformed my lawn.
Before & after, scythe v. battery mower...0 -

To be fair, it did used to be just the end of a field.0 -
You missed my point. As usual. That battery (not the company) won't power proper tools.
"The Samsung 15M is a popular lithium-ion cell. It is intended for use in high current 18650 battery packs. It can power a wide range of devices including a virtual reality headset, handheld pulse oximeter, or ignition system."The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I just picked a battery with a label on it as an example and actually you're wrong "intended use in high current drain" is exactly the requirement of a mower running for half an hour! It states "it can" power...
Sure the mah is low but my point was the quality of batteries used!0 -

All of our e-bike models are equipped with the X35+ system, which features at its core a Panasonic 36V / 250Wh, 18650GA - 10S / 2P Lithium-Ion battery. The battery functions as the brains of the operation and can reach up to 500 charging cycles whilst retaining up to 90% of its total capacity. If it is appropriately maintained, that is.https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/blog/caring-for-your-electric-bike-a-ribble-cycles-guide/
I sure as hell wouldn't buy an electric bike without finding out what batteries they use. It's important and should be stated on the packs! Great from Ribble.
Some load of reconditioned $h1t tagged together which will last a couple years.

Smart motorways being stopped.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65288852
Although I think whoever made the below comment simply doesn’t get it.
The Department for Transport said the new schemes would have cost more than £1bn, and cancelling them would allow time to track public trust in smart motorways over a longer period.0 -
Too much of a lottery for if/when you breakdown.
There’s always an x-factor but it’s a known fact that cars breakdown. Last place I’d want to have a car mechanical is a smart motorway.0 -
Death valley would be top of my list...but I see your point.
Reading that article I feel like part of the issue possibly comes from the fact there are three different types. Presumably this is so lots of money can be spent up front arguing about which solution is best for which small section of road.0 -
I have broken down in Death Valley our $400 Chevrolet Impala kept overheating while driving through at night. We just dossed down till the engine cooled down, fortunately there are water tanks at the side of the road for those whose engines overheat. The scary thing was you couldn’t lay down out side the car as there are lots of lethal beasties about.
I reckon it was safer than being on smart motorway0 -
There is far less immediate danger breaking down in Death Valley than on a smart motorway.Jezyboy said:Death valley would be top of my list...but I see your point.

I’d agree that the Death Valley experience is almost guaranteed to be uncomfortable but highly unlikely to be terminal. Live lane on a motorway, no thanks.
Bear in mind, most smart motorway is not the sort where there are overhead gantries every few hundred metres controlling lane use with signs.
The M6 between 19 and 15 is called smart but there is nothing smart about it. The hard shoulder is simply now a live lane and there are static speed cameras every 5 miles or so.0 -
But for balance, don’t underestimate Death Valley.

Which prompts a joke.
What vehicle do you take if you want to drive into the Outback?
A Land Rover.
What vehicle do you take if you want to drive back out the outback?
A hi-lux.0 -
And yes, I am aware Death Valley isn’t in the outback.0

My exhaust fell off on a smart motorway, it was still hanging on by 1 bolt so was kicking up a shower of sparks as I limped at about 40mph for a couple of miles in the slow lane.
Loads of people beeping and pointing at the back as they drive past. Like yes no sh1t why do you think I'm driving this slow with my hazards on?- Genesis Croix de Fer

Finally found somewhere in Mayfair that isn't either seriously grubby or the generic overpriced sh!t that tastes exactly the same, regardless of where you go.
Still full of w*nker men, but you can't leave the location.0 -

They're complete idiots, they don't even seem to have a coherent campaign message. Just a bunch of anarchist types latching onto a pseudo environmental name from what I can tell.Stevo_666 said:0 -
I managed to annoy some people at work today who were ranting angrily about the snooker protesters. I suggested the tournament organisers should take them out for dinner as it was the most interesting thing to happen on a snooker table for years and got the game back in the news, most people probably weren't even aware the world championships were on before then.1

They deserved what they got, or will get in the case of the snooker protester.Pross said:

Not quite as satisfying as watching a couple of ER types trying to disrupt an (electric powered) tube train in rush hour though

London Marathon coverage. All of it. I love the music, how damn long it is, the real excitement, Claire Balding, and especially the British public.

You do know I like pro cycling right?
Yeah, I'm baffled why they targeted snooker, easy target with live coverage I guess. I felt sorry for the fans who made the effort. It is getting silly now, so many people with their agenda of righteousness. I mean, how did the bloke get there in first place? Bike/walk, doubt it.0 -
