Getting the all clear from the consultant after an MRI scan on my lower back and spine. Turns out the very painful 2 week episode last month was nothing more than a pulled muscle and there's nothing else to worry about.

He even spotted the section of my lower back which gave me a dose of sciatica nearly 20 years back and said it was unlikely to bother me again. And to top it all off, I should be fine to go skiing this season :)

Drama Queen getting an MRI for that

Reminds me of when I got my back x-rayed for what turned out to be a herniated disc, the chiropractor said that if he'd just been sent the x-ray he would have assumed it belonged to someone in their 60s (I was mid-30s at the time!)
I suspect it was ar$e covering by the consultant. He was 99% sure it was a muscle pull (and with hindsight he was right) but I guess you never know. I'm not too bothered, it cost me nothing: I do seem to be getting my moneys worth out my BUPA cover though, which also cheers me up
Glad it was just a pulled muscle. My dad's mystery ache turned out to be myeloma, which finished him off eventually, so good that they checked thoroughly.
Thanks, better safe than sorry although he was very confident in his diagnosis before the scan. Sorry about your Old Man, had to Google what that was - not nice.

This must have been an upmarket place as they asked they asked what radio station I wanted. Went for Absolute 80's...

They asked if I was clautrophobis and I gave them an emphatic no. 2 mins later I felt like I was in a coffin with very loud noises and realisd that yes I was claustrophobic

Thanks. Yes, not nice but with various approaches managed to delay the inevitable by several years, and so well worth checking out odd aches and pains.

I quite like MRI and CT scans. I just lie there trying to work out what the machine is doing to make those noises. CT scans with Contrast gives you a warm feeling in your nether regions making you feel like you've pee'd/pooped yourself. Realising that I haven't cheers me up no end.

We all celebrate, and he's better than Bolsonaro, but he was convicted of embezzlement and corruption.

Who cares if he protects the Amazon?

What can I say, I think the bar should be higher than choices between people who embezzled and were engaged in corrupt practices *in office* or far right anti-democratic wannabe dictators.

We're still talking about Brazil right?

Some Brazilian commentator on the radio said it was definitely a case of the least worst candidate winning.

    That's absolutely what it is.

Let's not celebrate elected corrupt leaders, regardless of their opposition.
  • Finding a sold brass fire-iron set in a second-hand shop at the weekend, and at a price so reasonable we didn't bother haggling. An hour or so with the metal polish and it's all gleaming like a very shiny thing.

2 years we've been looking for one to replace the cheap and nasty, wobbly Chinese one we bought in panic when the logburner was installed.

A photo of it and the logburner would warm us all up... mind you, I've made it November without a whisper of heating yet...

Doing my running session in the pouring rain and single digit temperatures tonight. Everyone else whinging about it and I was loving it, the most I’ve enjoyed a run in months and ran better for it.

I definitely run and cycle better when it cold. Don't care about rain as long as I've got the right kit on.

I seem to generate a lot of heat when I exercise so end up overheating on hot days.

Clipping a telephone extension cable tidily from the top floor to the bottom today. Long story about why the telephone socket comes in the top floor, but moved the router downstairs a few weeks ago. Finally got bored of the unclipped extension, having intuitively moved the router as an experiment at first.

Some run hot and some run cold. I am the latter. Below 8 deg c and cycling for me is a chore. My muscles just don't work and no matter what gloves/socks/over shoes/clothing I use, my extremities go cold, sometimes it's actually painful.

    Money.
CL probably gives more than the rest of their revenue combined.
They’ll be battling it out to see who gets stuffed in Europe next year for the rest of the season.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    That's absolutely what it is.

Let's not celebrate elected corrupt leaders, regardless of their opposition.

The point is this: the fact that Bolsonero (apart form completely mis-managing the C19 pandemic), has facilitated huge destruction of the Amazon. So even a corrupt leader who protects the Amazon is surely better than a corrupt leader who doesn't (and there is not a snow flakes' chance in hell that Bolsonero has not been in the pay of Pompeii).
It might not matter to you because you're 'not into nature' but it should do because destruction of the Amazon affects all of us and also there are indigenous populations who need protecting as they are the custodians and not greedy destroyers. hell bent on making money.
We will never fully appreciate the sheer volume of nutrients being spilled out into the Atlantic or the carbon capture until it's possibly too late (if it isn't already) but all that matters to you is people.
Do you understand how deeply and utterly flawed that thinking is?

    Sure Bolsonaro's awful. That's a given

You gonna trust a guy who went to prison for embezzlement and corruption?

    No.

They're both awful and anyway, the army seems to have turned up in the capital so who knows what's going on.

This is the song "Rain" as recorded, and it's a little bit mind blowing if you know the version that was released.
