Does it make you feel better or worse to know that more people are learning High Valerian?

I was talking about the trans numbers. I had imagined it was waaaay below 0.1%. In the 0.01%. Not like 1 in 200 people.

It's the sort of thing that people lie about on a census as a protest at having to complete a census.

    I'm not sure

Really? I can immediately think of 3 I know reasonably well, a few more I've met, probably a couple more that I wasn't sure about. More come to mind as I think about it.

I know one lesbian couple, one of the pair has recently taken on the pronoun 'they' but I think they are more androgenous than trans.

Yeah. You hear stories in my job obviously, and you see a few in the street - I think Cambridge has the highest proportion in the country - but yeah, I've only sat and spoke to one. Former woman turned man - wouldn't even know if it wasn't for the rumour mill. Nice guy.

Finding out that the Mrs pension from the 15 years when she worked up to 2001 was a final salary scheme. That's her financial planning sorted.

She's entitled to draw it in January next year and its a major Plc pension scheme, so unlikely. The transfer value put a smile on my face.

assuming she is roughlythe same age as you/me then there could be a big reduction for going early ie 5% for every year you go early.

Thanks - we dont think so as she has a milestone coming up soon, but will ask the usual questions before we decide anything. It's mainly a choice between keeping it as a final salary and getting a degree of certainty or transferring to a fund and having the usual flexibility. We are taking professional advice as you might expect.

Lying in the hot tub of our holiday lodge (on a cool setting), drinking wine and watching all the Swift's flying around overhead. The lodges are alpine style with big spaces under the eaves that are perfect for their nests.

Oh, that's changed. I'm in Truro this week doing yet more graduations. The bike's come with me, and tonight's little post-graduations ride to Pendennis Point most certainly did cheer me up! Looks like it should be fine by tomorrow evening too 🙂

Pendeen would be home for me. Grew up down here, spent 22 years (technically a little longer but had to wait for the wife to be released back into normality as well) wandering the UK before I was able to return :)

Went through Truro earlier, Satnav routed us that way from St Columb Major to Mousehole for some reason. Maybe there were delays due to the Royal visit that we only realised happened when we got back having missed them in Mousehole by a few hours. You playing at the cathedral? I commented on how impressive it is when I went past.

That's a slightly weird detour. Yes, in the cathedral, with the mighty organ and all. It is an impressive building, for a modern (C19) one.

It can get very loud that organ...

We went to a Christmas Eve evensong too once which I very recommend. The choir are really rather good.

Much like Jim I've been trying to think how to stay vaguely cool while I'm doing my motorcycle course tomorrow. Turns out it's going to be an issue staying dry!!

A few of us have this debate endlessly. If yours is all DC then keeping it as FS gives you a nice mix. State pension at £9k each will obviously increase your proportion of gteed income.

Just created a Strava segment around the holiday park I'm staying on that I meant to leave private just as a guage of my own runs down here.

Within half an hour of me creating it some guy came jogging up, stopped outside our lodge and started a fast effort. I don't think it's a coincidence so I'm going to see how he gets on and if he makes the leaderboard change it back to private. Don't think he'll get close to the current fastest time which is 5:45 mile pace.

We are checking all of the costs up front - the main ones is the mandatory independent analysis needed to shift out of a DB scheme and the IFA commission). Although the transfer value is pretty healthy compared to what's on offer as an annual pension amount: she would need to live well to nearly 90 get her moneys worth from the DB scheme - and that's before factoring any investment returns in a DC scheme.
